TOD: Don't know what I'm going to be home to watch, so probably the best I can guess for the weekend is a lot of car driving with Rita Moreno reading Sonia Sotomayor's "My Beloved World." I'm on disc 5 of 10 and am loving most every word of it.

While I don't know this from actually having heard her complain, there's a delicious turn of phrase on All that Chat in response to a thread on Rita Moreno:

By "mendacity" on All That Chat:

The wonderful Ms. Moreno has never missed an opportunity to complain about her professional good fortune.

[Again, I've never really seen this side of Rita Moreno, except for that one Tony The Ritz thing, but it is a fascinating turn of phrase, if true.]

Did I mention that last night I finally heard a Hofstetter audition that I felt was actually in the ballpark?  I'll have to direct her a little, but she really has the rhythms down pretty well, and I like her subtle character delineations, and I really like her Adriana.  So far, she's at the top of the list.

BK,

I had never seen MINISTRY OF FEAR prior to watching the Criterion version a couple of weeks ago.

Although I did enjoy it, particularly the first 15 minutes, I kept wondering how Hitchcock would have handled this same material.

Hitchcock would have given us a point-of-view to get us emotionally involved in the situation, but with Lang, there were so many sequences in which I felt I was just an observer.

TOD:

DVD - WEST POINT
Blu Ray - TITANIC - 1953.  The picture is an improvement over the DVD, and most of the extras have been carted over.  But you will have to keep your DVD if you want the extra that includes scenes from the German version of the subject.....

CD - nada

TOD:

DVD – “Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson” This is the first episode, in two parts, of the Russian TV series made in 1979. Holmes and Watson were very well portrayed in the 11 part series and locations were well chosen – the outside scenary looking very much like the English countryside. Interestingly, a new Russian 16 episode TV series has been filmed for broadcast later this year.

I’ve also been catching up with a few episodes of of “The Alfred Hitchcock Hour” from my (unauthorised) DVD set. The picture quality isn’t very good so I’ve not bothered to watch many of them. The good news is that every episode is being officially released in Australia in three 8 disc sets in May.

CD - "Providence"

I know a couple, but most I don't - they're coming to me from the mom of the Staitman girls, who knows a ton of young performers.

That is good that they are performers and not just random girls she knows. Did you try any of the girls from that website. I would have thought that they would be more experienced at doing audio recordings.
