Well, you've read the notes, the notes were ballet-like, and now it is time for you to post until the balletic cows come home.

LOL, also up early.

Actually, I got to sleep early last night for some reason, so i got a full night's sleep - and anyway, Dylan decided he'd like breakfast and when he saw me stirring, placed his and Toby's food order.  (He must be on an early schedule anticipating BK's very early morning flight tomorrow.)

Lucky Dylan and Toby got right back to sleep even after having a full breakfast.  :)

I had my full breakfast also.

Oatmeal, walnuts, dried cherries and cinnamon and coffee.

Now I'm at the office about to begin another day, another dollar.

If I had my druthers I would crawl back under the sheets.

It's 28 degrees in New York City. Be careful out there.

I was hoping to listen to Larry's Eileen interview today since I was unable to do it yesterday. I don't think that's gonna happen. I've been all over both Dress Circle's blog and WWFM and I don't see the program in any kind of archive. Perhaps it will be up later in the week but it's not up now. I don't know that they archive this one because I can't find any WWFM Sunday Opera broadcasts on the Web site. That's the program title for Larry's interview. The only shows listed at the Dress Circle page at WWFM are from January of 2013

Dress Circle

The regular Dress Circle Blog has nothing related to Eileen other than what Larry posted yesterday. There is no link to the Eileen interview/broadcast.

The Nutcracker (my 1st)

and my favorite:

The Who's Tommy. This is before the movie or any other stage version of the show. It was one of Le Grand Ballet Canadien most popular productions and they brought it back several times over the years until they 'retired' the production.

Good morning, all! The neighbor above me did not arrive home until around 7am this morning. That means that once I turned out the lights at 10 at night, i slept quite well. Frankly, i wish he preferred to spend most of his time at his lady friend's apartment.

This morning, I am off to Toyland.  I don't know if any scores have come in to be proofed, but we're three weeks behind the schedule I set, and I am not very happy about it. I'll accomplish what I can - if I have nothing to proof, I'll unpack more cartons and put them away - and then head home.

My first memories of ballet are on tv in the early 1950s: either the broadcast of the Royal Ballet's SLEEPING BEAUTY or CINDERELLA, both with Margot Fonteyn. Two of my favorites - CAKEWALK and PINEAPPLE POLL - are hardly performed these days, and I was lucky to see the Joffrey Ballet Company perform CAKEWALK, which is a lot of fun. City Ballet keeps Robbins' and Balanchine's choreography going strong, thank God, and I think they - and Royal Ballet's Frederick Ashton - are the best. Robbins' DANCES AT A GATHERING is one of the most amazing and heartbreaking things I've ever seen, and I'm still waiting to catch Balanchine's macabre LA VALSE.

I love ballet.....although I haven't seen A LOT of it in person.

I did enjoy the Houston Ballet when they brought their SWAN LAKE to I.U. in Bloomington many years ago.  And I have seen the Butler University Nutcracker a couple of times....most enjoyable.

Of course I also enjoy dance on film and video.....  I like the Maurice Bejert BOLERO in LES UNS ET LES AUTRES.

And DR ELMORE recommended a terrific film that I highly recommend to dance lovers here - it's a modern ballet set in Paris.....if DR ELMORE can't remember the name, I will have to find the DVD....somewhere around here.....

AND The Car Man by the guy by Matthew Bourne.

TOD:

The Nutcracker was the first ballet I saw. An evening with Barishnikov (sp?) and Patricia McBride was the second. I was in ninth grade when he came to perform with the Louisville Ballet. Really wonderful evening, including a Balanchine pas de deuze and "Patroushka," although the Stravinsky music was very strange to me.

Among favorites of mine was seeing Suzanne Ferrell and McBride in their farewell performance with NYC Ballet doing "Jewels," which Balanchine had created for them.

I haven't had the time I would have liked to study dance more and I don't really know what I'm watching, but I do enjoy it, especially 20th century works by Balanchine, Robbins and the like.

I wore shoes outside yesterday since the ground was completely bare (the streets not the grass). There are still large mounds of snow from where the snow removal companies piled snow.

I was so hoping we'd get Spring weather soon. The bike path looked clear.

But that said we are supposed to get a huge storm tonight/tues/wed. I guess the chance that the weather will stay warm enough to turn to rain is probably too much to hope for. :(

I want Spring!

I've never seen a ballet in the theatre unless it was part of a musical.  I've seen some on TV but don't remember watching any all the way through.  I admire the discipline and find some of it incredibly beautiful, but not really where I choose to spend my entertainment dollar or time.
