Thank you, DRs Jennifer, Ben, JRand, Jane, and TCB, for your comments about Cathy.  I just finished a phone call with Rob, who suspected this yesterday because of the photo her son had posted on Facebook.

Where is Keith when I need him.....my sleeve was caught in the candy jar and I was trapped for way too long.

I hate it when that happens.

;D

Even worse than being trapped, I couldn't get any chocolate out to comfort my frustration ;)

Friday morning greetings.  It's a sad morning in Middletown, because our friend Cathy lost her battle with cancer yesterday.  Her son John and our son Rob grew up together and remain such good friends that John was one of Rob's groomsmen.  RIP, Cathy...

Ginny, my condolences to you, Rob and to her family.

Back from a really interesting work session - we ran through all the album stuff and it's going to be really good.  But that wasn't the interesting part - the interesting part came after, just sitting and talking - I'll talk about it more in the notes, but it's why I always insist with singers that there are a lot of conversations, because out of them sometimes brilliant ideas can emerge, and that's what happened.  In about thirty minutes Lanny and I will be on our way to the Ford's Theater via Metro - we'll pick up our tickets and then find somewhere fun to dine.  And then, it's Hello, Dolly!

I doubt the photo would be as funny as it sounds.  My attempts to open the lid again might have been worthy of a video ;)

DR MBARNUM - have a fun weekend.

Perhaps someone in the DOLLY audience will recognize MR BK as the producer of the Hello, Dolly! Grammy-nominated revival CD.

I am reading a very interesting book for review - it is titled TENDER COMRADES.  Interviews with those who were personally and professionally involved in the Blacklisting of the 1950's....

I didn't expect to like it - but there are a lot of interesting stories in there.....much better than a "history" of the times written by someone who just researches the facts.

I just read a bit about the book.  It sounds very interesting, especially the interviews with those defending why they ratted out others to save themselves.

Donna Kane?  From Meet Me in St. Louis!  Loved her in that!

I never saw it (of course), but I love that recording.

I am thinking of buying another corned beef this weekend, just so I can  cook up a whole bunch of potatoes and carrots.  The one I bought last weekend was more St. Fatty's Day, than St. Patty's Day.  But damn those spuds and carrots  were 2 die 4.

Can you get a really small one to cook with the spuds and carrots?
