Good Palm Sunday morning to all!  I just wanted to share that I went to Exceptional Granite, Tile and Marble in Clearwater yesterday to pick out my new Granite countertops! I met Cliff who was very nice.

I took a floor tile and a paper with my kitchen paint color with me so we could put them against the granite to make sure the colors would work. With Cliffs help, I picked a beautiful slab that reminded me of a tigers stripes. Cliff said it would make my tiny kitchen look bigger. It has whites, black/grey, tans/creams, light browns and what looks like sparkles in it. It's called Juperana Granite.

They gave me several samples of other colors to lay in the kitchen and look at when I got home but my eye always went back to the Juperana. I didn't want to much white because the floor is a cream/tan/gray/white mix and the cabinets will be pure white.

I also heard from Sergio ( Same name different person from the other Sergio) who said he will be delivering the cabinets on April 1st and will do the demo/install of the cabinets over April 4/5! I am sooo excited and I can't thank everyone enough for all of their kindness in helping me with my kitchen.

I still need your vibes for the washer/drier shed/room to come true. Once that happens I will have a perfect little home.  ;)

I am so happy for you!

...and we're home!  We drove through some pretty heavy snow - very poor visibility, but the roads were only wet, not snow-covered.

I always like reading that you are home safe and sound.  That is a long trip you take on Sundays, especially in the winter.

Thank you for your concern, DR Jane.  We seem to be having a lull between snowstorms, which will give us the chance to go to the visitation for Cathy and have dinner with Rob and Mary Linda.  Richard and I usually avoid the funeral home routine and prefer to attend the service.  However, that's scheduled for noon tomorrow and we're not sure we'll be able to get down our driveway then...

Wishing for good weather tomorrow!!!!

DR Danise--I'm glad there's progress in your renovation!
Thank you so much!  I'm going to try to post as things happen but I will take lots of photos to share the before, during and after!

I look forward to the photos and to the work FINALLY getting done!!!

I'm a bit sorry at some of the things I will have to give up.  The book shelves were built by my Dad but I just don't have any place to put them.  I had hoped that they would build the place for the W/D first and I could have put a least one of them there.

I think I'll have to get rid of the kitchen table I have now too.  My Mom loved that table--it's butcher block but I would rather have them go to the GoodWill and help someone else then see them go to the dump.

It is always hard letting go of those special things but the memories will stay with you.

KITCHEN & WASHER AND DRYER VIBES!!!!
I'm hoping they don't give up on the W/D.  I just keep thinking how wonderful it would be to be able to bake or cook in my new kitchen while the wash is in progress.  Think of how much time I wouldn't  have to spend in the laundry matt!

Is a stacked unit an option?

DR Elmore, some of JACK THE GIANT KILLER was filmed at Norwich Cathedral, where Richard and I spent a week in January.

DR TCB I would love to have seen Pearl Bailey.

It was wonderful.  And the cast included Cab Calloway (who I had never appreicated until then), his daughter Chris Calloway, Mabel King, and Morgan Freeman as Rudolph, the head waiter.

You are very lucky to have had this experience.

Good because I need to take a break from this chair for awhile & I don't want to miss you.

DR Danise, I'm overwhelmed by your exciting news.  It is really going to happen for you.  I have tears of joy for you.

Is this the granite you picked out?

Wow, you got it in one!  That is the very color but the slab that I saw had like stripes of the different colors.  The first thing I thought was it looked like a tiger.

Sure, that is fine for now; but the the first time you try to prepare roast tiger at home, it will totally disappear on your counter top.

There are many variations on this.  I'm glad you saw the actual slab they will be using.

I made two dishes today for Passover dinner tomorrow.

Tzimmes (Carrrot & Sweet Potatoes with Raisins, honey & pitted prunes)

Kugel (noodles with cream cheese, sour cream, cottage cheese, raisins, cinnamon,)

First time cooking for both. Won't know how it came out until tomorrow.

It took me the whole afternoon to make them.

Those are two dishes that my aunt makes often for Passover. She is making kugel for tomorrow. I love her tzimmes. There is something that she puts in it that is my favorite part of the dish. It is white and so tasty. She also sometimes puts beef and chicken in it which I prefer.

So, tomorrow is my day to take a dinner to the family where the dad is undergoing chemo. My DH suggested a roast a turkey. I invited the Goldstein Sisters to help me cook, seeing how they LOVE to help cook and they had never had REAL stuffing cooked inside the turkey.

Mae-Ling was so seriously squicked out by the raw turkey that she ran home. But young Wae-Ling thought it was the coolest thing ever to be elbow deep in a raw turkey. She had a blast and ate quite a bit of it (for her). Mae-Ling hasn't returned.

And there is to be NO DEBATE about it. The stuffing goes inside the turkey.

The End.

Finished one morion picture on Blu and Ray and am starting another.  I had salmon for lunch, a small Caesar and some veggies, and I just had four small frozen chicken taco things for another 200 calories, which should bring me near my 1200 a day goal - also had some melon balls, baby.

From DR Cilla:
Quote
I've actually started telling people and rather than fear, I feel relief and a lot of the excitement I felt back when I applied to be a judge.   I cancelled my state contract for criminal defense about a month ago.   I've been saying no to new federal appointments but haven't officially gotten off the list.   I'm ready to do that now.  I'll probably write the email tomorrow.  I'll still be working hard,, but there will be fewer nights and weekends and I will have more of an office practice.  It will mean the end of jury trials, but I'll still have hearings before the immigration judges.   This is a change I look forward to.  Thanks for all the good wishes.

It is wonderful reading your excitement.  :)
I'm sure you will do very well.
You can never do wrong when your doing something you like/love.  Congrats!

Thanks

Danise, I am just sorry it took us all so long to get angry enough to send e-mails and posts.  It would so terrific if everything would be completed for you.  Continued vibes for the washer / dryer room.

Oh, by the way, once your little house is completed, you will be hosting the first-ever national HHW Get-together,so we can all see the results!

I second that
