One of my neighbours has taken to putting their recyclable waste into my bin (large wheelie bin) when theirs is full. I went to put some newspapers in it today but couldn't because it was full up. I've put a stop to them using it by moving the bin behind my locked gate. If they have too much waste for the bin, then they should do what I do if I have too much for my bin and take it to the recycle depot which is only a few minutes away.

I'm back home from today's high school adventures, the foul weather has thankfully avoided us (or will leave practically nothing later tonight), and we're in the clear for sunny skies and a gradual return to actual spring-like temperatures this week.  Hoo and Ray!   :)

Congrats to DR ELMORE on his return to civilized life.

What commercial was that?  From the 1960s, I think.

DR Laura, the Brent Barrett as Captain Hook I'm seeing is in Schenectady, NY.  (Or Synecdoche.)

Orchestra, 4th row center, $60.  It would have been $70 but I'm going up for a weekday matinee because I don't feel like making it an overnight trip.  And I'm going by myself, so the single seat made it easier to get.

DR Doug R, I love the Hammer B&W psychological thrillers, too.  Even those that might not be completely "thrilling".  It's a style of film that means a lot to me, and I have a very great love for late '50s, early '60s varieties of same from US studios.

Back from a patty melt and no fries or onion rings - calories for said patty melt are somewhere between 600 and 900 according to the various calorie sites.  The ones that list at 900 however seem to be these humungous two-patty things - the size I had is more along the lines of the 600 calorie ones, and Jerry's patty melts are really not very big.  And I jogged so I'm fine - the only other thing I'll ingest today or tonight may be fruit.

TOD (films in no particular order)

Hammer:
ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN
HORROR OF DRACULA
BRIDES OF DRACULA
CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN
DIE! DIE! MY DARLING
HOUND OF BASKERVILLES
HYSTERIA
MANIAC
THE MUMMY
NIGHT CREATURES (CAPTAIN CLEGG - same story as Disney's DR. SYN)
QUATERMASS AND THE PIT
THE NANNY

And for bonus points (I hope there are bonus points), some favorite Amicus films because I LOVE anthologies -- especially those in the Hammer style:
ASYLUM
DR. TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS
FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE
HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD
I, MONSTER
TALES FROM THE CRYPT
VAULT OF HORROR
and CITY OF THE DEAD (HORROR HOTEL).

I really like Cushing and Lee in just about anything they've done, so no real favorites as far as that goes.

I went to IKEA for the very first time this weekend. There is this whole shopping center near the airport in Portland that I never knew existed.

It was like discovering a long lost civilization.

Some of those Amicus anthology films are great fun, although I haven't seen any of them in many, many years.

I tried to get a pair of tickets in August for a January show.  The girls STILL talk about the show. And Wae-Ling watches the dvd every time she is here.

BTW, I got that DVD (Peter Pan) and liked it a lot.  I know everyone here said it's awful in comparison to the real live show, and of course I believe that, so I'm looking forward to this all the more.

I like it, too, but that's something I haven't been to in probably way more than a decade.

I think the only one I've been to around this area is the Newark, NJ one across the turnpike from the airport.  I know there are others now, but haven't bothered to find out where they are.  It is a fun thing to do, though, now and then.

Richard and I attended only the church service portion of Cathy's funeral.  It was SRO, as I expected, and quite sweet.  We visited with some folks afterwards and had a discussion about our own funerals on the way home.  We ate lunch and watched ARGO, which made my palms sweat even though I was pretty sure I knew how it turned out.

Do IKEA and civilization belong in the same conversation?  ;)

 :)

I went to it at the theater, and haven't been on the edge of my seat like that at a movie in years.  As the final half hour ticked on, I almost felt a growing anger at the filmmakers for putting me through this!  And I love suspense.  Absolutely love it.

DR John G., that is one gorgeous picture.  Did you take it?  The scene and the colors are just incredible.

That said, I do miss the days before they took the Hills out of Hill Country.   :)

I love that kind of tension. I think it's why, when I saw the previews of the French version of Harlen Coben's "Tell No One," I had to see it again. I remember being on the edge of my seat in that one, but I don't remember the details, which means I can bite my nails all over again.

I did not take the photo. it was on the resort's Facebook page. It's a place up in Comfort called Riven Rock Ranch with a half-outdoors restaurant and some great food. Thinking of going back in a few weeks for dinner.

Well since they are moving SMASH to Saturdays it seems pretty clear that they will not renew the show.

I think the show would be better on cable with a few more challenges, shorter season and greater attention to detail. Oh, yeah, and no Debra Messing.

DR ChasSmith - Glad you like them as well. When young, I found them far more scary than the blood-drenched Dracula and Frankenstein Hammer films. They always had great surprise endings as well. I particularly liked MANIAC with Kerwin Matthews.
