I recently read Jack Kelly's (Garner's co-star on MAVERICK) biography, and it was quite good.

We used to do our own, one doing the initial paperwork & the other checking it. During moves that were confusing with two states for income we used accountants. Once Turbo Tax became available Keith has done it every year & set the kids up to do their own.

How many people are in your book group? I have decided to host our May meeting. Someone might take my July spot if she doesn't end up as the June back-up (the June hostess is still recovering from a stroke but doing pretty good). I have invited a guest to join us in May but chances are she won't join, if she decided to at all, until after summer.

Well, as I feared, the Man from Philadelphia is now in on the casting situation. I'm putting it all aside and watching tv. I consoled myself by ordering the new Criterion edition of MONSIEUR VERDOUX.

Picked up a couple of packages, one of which is a new 11 CD box set of the complete Legrand/Demy collaborations - every note of music. And finally the English-language version of Young Girls of Rochefort. I'm curious to hear the quality of some of this stuff - since many times this company, who says they've properly licensed, doesn't actually have the master tapes - the composers or estates usually give them to this company - the proof of this is when they did their silly version of That Man From Rio, saying the only tapes available were for about four tracks and then augmenting those with NEW recordings made by Alexandre Desplat. As you all know, the master tapes were all sitting here in LA at MGM and that's what we used for our complete version of the score.

I left shortly after the AC man arrived and my husband took care of it. He's not here now, so I don't know what the verdict was.

I had lunch with a friend and her two-year-old. The toddler babbled constantly about the wizard balloon (hot air balloon she saw this morning) the birds on the restaurant patio, the nearby water fountains, and the airplane that went fast that she rode to Phoenix on. She calls me Miss Lorla.
