Well, you've read the notes, the notes had life, and now it is time for you to post until the living cows come home.

Good morning, all!

i slept rather well until the neighbor above me and his girlfriend arrived around 12:15 and work me  with their stomping about. Once I fell back to sleep, I slept quite nicely. I had one eculiar dream about a fire that got out of hand and another dream about a library, which seemed to be a blend of the Miami University Library, the Middletown public library, and NYPL, and the Library of Congress; it was strange.

Today, I have to be to Toyland by 9:00. At 9:30 I'm meeting a singer, who's a friend of my colleague Curtis, about the recording. Later, my friend Anthony Morelli is stopping by.

Yesterday, I ran through the full score edits for Nos. 1-12 of ROBERTA,  and I'll continue that this morning.

DR Matthew, best of luck with your domestic situation.

Good morning, all.

A morning of blood work and tests before getting to work. Ugh.

The lineup for the Comden and Green  show sounds great. It also sounds like you could two or three more shows and still not cover all of their greats.

'Cause the players tried to take the field
The marching band refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the trackpad died?

TOD:

One meal would be sashimi (and if I were dying, maybe this would be the time to try blowfish since it can be poisonous to some). But with it I would have plenty of cold seafood, including oysters, lobster, shrimp of various sizes and varieties and crab salads. Cold, crisp white wines to go with everything. And a large bowl of fresh berries with heavy cream drizzled over the top.

One meal would be a brunch with a frittata like my mom makes with ham, cheese and celery leaves in it. Bacon, sausage and country ham on the side. Fresh biscuits with plenty of butter and raspberry or red currant jam. Maybe a crab cake version of eggs Benedict and seared foie gras on brioche. A tiny bowl of homemade meusli with raw whole milk. Hot crepes filled with more fresh berries and melted butter for dessert. And plenty of Champagne and gin fizzes to drink.

Third meal would likely be Italian with linguine with white clam sauce for the pasta course. Antipasti would include white anchovies, a fresh pea salad, grilled vegetables in olive oil and some cheeses. The main course would be porchetta, which we had for Easter: pork loin wrapped in pork belly and slowly roasted until the fat of the belly melts into the leaner meat. Dessert would be a mixed berry tiramisu. Drinks would include Negroni and a lively mix of Italian whites and reds.

And now I'm hungry, and I have to fast at least another hour or so.

Yesterday's TOD:  I'm low on the Thai food experience because I'm not around much of it.  We do have one restaurant in this small town that's been very popular for its nearly quarter of a century, and since I used to live near it, I went several times and always enjoyed it as long as I wasn't burning my tongue off on something hastily sampled that should have been more leisurely sampled.  I should get back there and see what's what.

Yesterday's TOD Part the Second:

And re the notes:

Funny about ROGER RABBIT, my reactions to it over the years being similar to BK's.  Why in the world wasn't it a more immediately LOVABLE film right out of the starting gate?  That is so odd.  Well, I've got the Blu-ray and shall devote some time to properly watching and enjoying it sometime soon.

As to favorite animated films...wow, that's a tall order.  I don't know if I can answer it.  Much of vintage Disney, no question.  And for this century, much of Pixar.  And vintage cartoons, though I don't think we're talking about shorts here.  Or any other kind of underwear.  Oy!

I was at the high school yesterday and from a few things I heard, I had the unfortunate impression that the music director (who wasn't there) isn't bringing in another pianist for BARNUM or playing one himself.  Which means that Yrs Truly would have to suck it up and make the best of it playing the book alone.  That's really unfortunate because that wonderful SOUND of the two pianos will go totally missing.  It might be a budgetary thing -- they hire me, and likely can't hire a second.  If, however, the MD simply can't be bothered practicing enough of it to at least play along in a few of the numbers, which I know he's capable of doing, then that's just disappointing.  Well, I'll find out when I'm down there in a couple of days for a rehearsal.

Oh, and on top of that, I found out that the person in charge of planning and mounting the smaller scale fall musical is turning those duties over to someone else -- and that someone else is likely to return the fall musical to fall PLAY, which it was for many years.  This is also unfortunate, as the person #1 was the one most likely to be interested in looking at THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X.

However ... I'm personally taking that as a positive "sign", because I mean to interest someone around here in doing it, and a higher level local production would be one heckuva lot more fun and satisfying -- especially on the music end, as most of the venues can hire the five musicians, and it would kill me to see that compromised.

Tuesday morning greetings!  Today I'm off to Dayton for lunch with the grantwriters and coffee with former co-worker Sue.  Haven't seen the writers since December and haven't seen Sue since November, so I'm looking forward to both.
