TOD:

My wife and I plan to be cremated and interred together in the mausoleum at Hillside in Los Angeles.

It's the one behind the Al Jolson statue, which seems fitting since I wrote a play about him.

Hopefully, that won't be any time soon.

I do have a lot of family, including my parents, at Hillside.

I recently acquired the UK Blu-ray of Orson Welles's THE TRIAL, a long-time favorite.  This disc is a winner.  What a pleasure to finally have a GREAT transfer of one of the films that have suffered so horribly in home video, and even revival house prints, for all these years.

Before watching it, I took out my Roan Group gold plated laserdisc to see what it looked like now, because I hadn't watched it since long before having an HD screen.  For a laserdisc, it's certainly still serviceable.  Some of them are still perfectly watchable, upscaled to HD, and others just aren't, so it's a crapshoot.  But the several Roans I have are so beautifully presented and collectible that I'm still hanging on to every one of 'em.

But I was very pleasantly surprised to find a special bonus on this one:  liner notes by one DR Druxy!

 :o

I'd forgotten all about that.

Yes, I did write liner notes for a few of Roan's LDs.

Was it here that someone mentioned the woman who had her own memorial the other day, so she could see who would show up at her funeral, then st up at the end of teh service?

Here's the article

Okay, okay, I admit it.  You got me.  I laughed out loud when I read that.  I am surprised I didn't wake Nicky from his late morning nap.

Note to DR Elmore:  It wouldn't have worked today, but next time you schlep to CT to see something, let me know and maybe I'll join or at least meet y'all for a bite or a drink.

Looking forward to hearing a report on the Herbert.

Ruth Fertel, who started the Ruth's Chris Steak House chain, threw herself a New Orleans funeral party before her death, so that she could be there to enjoy it. She was dying from cancer at the time, but that was a good day for her, I'm told, and she enjoyed the heck out of it. I like that attitude.

That could be fun, especially in New Orleans.

Did you read about the family that got kicked off a plane because they objected that the movie in flight was PG-13 and their kids shouldn't be watching? The flight's response was to stop in Chicago, en route from Baltimore to Denver, if I recall correctly, and then boot the entire family off. I think charges are also going to filed against them. Meanwhile, they're talking about suing the airline.

I thought that they were let go after a few minutes of questioning.  I'm sure the other passengers were pretty pissed off being diverted so such a stupid reason.  The poor flight attendants who where no longer getting paid couldn't have been happy.

I remember complaining about a comedy routine I found inappropriate for my children.  Personally I found it offensive to me as well.  That was in the days when we watched a big screen at the beginning of the row of seats.  Since it was a stand up comic all I had to do was pull the ear plugs on my kids.  You can't easily shut their eyes to violence on the screen.

I found today's topic interesting as I woke up this morning dreaming/thinking about scattering our ashes up on Mt. Ashland with Echo & Sherlock's.

Keith & I love old cemeteries and there is a part of us that would like to be buried in one.   As a genealogist Keith would like to leave behind a plaque, if nothing, for future generations to visit.  As a realist he says no one will visit and he will be cremated.  I insist our ashes not be scattered until they can be scattered together.  If he goes first he doesn't want to be kept in a closet for 20 years so we decided he can be kept on a shelf in a jar of popcorn.  I can be kept with a tin of Lindt chocolate or with the Haagen-Dazs.

Where our ashes will be scattered I guess depends on where we, or our children, are living at the time.

I didn't read the story. But how could they know she was alive if she wanted to see who would show up at the funeral?

The production was dreadful!
Amateurish of the worst sort. The conductor has delusions of adequacy, and really let a potentially good orchestra down.

We left at intermission. And I am home.

Why don't you just abandon TB and find other boards where people aren't so cruel.

Hello!  I picked up my blu-ray of Hello, Dolly!  from UPS and am watching it now.  I can't get over how vibrant the colors are!  Not to mention the spectacular singing by the leading lady.

What a beautiful day in the Washington, DC area! A little chilly, but very sunny.  I'm thinking of going to see the Cherry Blossoms tomorrow but don't know if I can face the crowds.

I didn't read the story, but I think if I were a passenger and had a vote, I would have chosen to turn the movie off rather than be diverted to another airport.
