It was a looooong day at Toyland, but the score is proofed, a few errors - mostly mine - are being corrected, and my weekend is now my own.

My goodness, will you just look at how DR Ginny circulates through the Social Circles!

Well, I've lived in this town for almost 40 years and tonight will be my first visit to country club #2, which should tell you something...

TOD:

I used  to like Subway...until I started being gluten free.  Now, all I can eat are their salads.

I've never eaten in Subway. I used to notice them when travelling in various countries and about 10 years ago they opened in the U.K. Someday soon perhaps I'll make the big step and try them out  :)

I hate the smell of Subway.  I can recognize it before I even see the place.

I hate the smell of Subway in the morning.  Isn't that from Apocalypse Now?  (or is it Hot Pockets now?)

I've been watching LES MIS. So far the only performance that has impressed me has been the young Cosette. I have seen nothing I feel is Oscar-worthy. I will say, though, that Helena Bonham Carter makes a great witch.
I was very impressed with the guy who played Marius. And re: Hugh Jackman other than the fact that he is a big name I see little comparison between him and Russell Crowe. Hugh Jackman is a broadway performer with an amazing voice.
Except that the score wasn't in his vocal range.

I'm now watching "Rock of Ages," which is a horrible property, but the movie seems to be as well made as a such a piece of garbage deserves.

Someone on Facebook posted a photo of this actor, who seems familiar. It's from some tour of South Pacific.

That is a nice photo on Facebook that includes MR BK of the cast of the show he saw....and others.

Where on Facebook, DR Jrand62?  Mind you, I know next to nothing about getting around on Facebook; I'm probably the most ignorant adult on the face of the planet when it comes to that.

That would  be the facebook of the planet!

Back from the author luncheon, which was a huge success!  Martha Moody was a very good speaker and responded well to some great questions.  There was a good mix of AAUW members and non (but prospective) members.  The meal at country club #1 was quite mediocre.

Shame about the meal but nice the speaker was good.  Do you recommend reading any of her books?

Her first 3 are kind of "chick" books - very character-driven and relationship-oriented.  Her newest, which I bought today, is futuristic, set in Dayton.  One of the characters is a history professor who delivers a lot of historical background.  My book group liked her first, BEST FRIENDS, very much.

"Chick" books with the last one looking interesting was my impression of them.  Since BEST FRIENDS was available at my library I downloaded it.  Please let me know what you think of her latest book as it appealed to me.  So far my library doesn't have it on eBooks.

Funny, I googled "I hate the smell of Subway in the morning" and apparently I am far from the only person who hates the smell of Subway.  I feel so much better knowing this fact. ;D

Did a three-mile jog, picked up some packages, prepped the eBlast for Monday's announcement and am listening to music until I leave for dinner and opening night.

Does anyone here feel that LES MIZ would have been a better film with fewer stars and stronger voices--or perhaps voices better suited to the roles or to the abilities of the singers?

I thought it would be a better film with a director who actually understood music and musicals.
