Hmmm, I shall have to see if they can be renewed.  I can't renew eBooks & I learned, the few times I renewed books, the renewal date began when I clicked the button and not from the original due date.

I think we can renew dvds online if nobody else has them reserved (but most movies are reserved).

If you take out a book on may 1st and you decide to renew it on may 15th. Shouldn't it renew it from the date you renewed it (may 15th)? That is how my library works.  Although I think my sister's might work the way you said. If she takes out a book on may 1st and renews it on may 15th then she gets 3 weeks + 3 weeks from may 1st (books are for 3 weeks). I think it's much more fair the way my library works. IF nobody has her book reserved she could potentially renew it the day she takes it out for 6 weeks..

I went to our local library a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised to find not only a goodly number of films on Blu-ray, but a quite respectable number of Criterions in both DVD and Blu-ray.  Looked at a few because I was curious to see how people have been treating them, and -- woops -- found the booklets missing in several.  (A few of the more recent releases had "INCLUDES BOOKLET" stamped on the outside, and those were all there!)  Anyhoo, for a not-too-large movie and TV department, the quality of selection was way more interesting than expected.

Yesterday, I signed up for Netflix.

For the first time I reserved two DVD's from the library.  One came in today.  I have no idea how many days I have to pick it up, or to keep it once I check it out.  I also need to find my library card.

Does your library carry new movies?

This is how I watch all of my movies (from the library). They seem to get most new ones. And you can request what you want. We get them for 3 days (or 1 week if it is based on a real person). We have 2 days to pick them up. And there is a $2/day fine for every day it is overdue.

Some but I will get those in BlueRay from Red Box when I can.  I don't think the library has BlueRay, at least not that I've seen.

Now that I'm about caught up I think I will see if the library is open to ask the details.

I've heard that very, very few libraries have gotten on the Blu-ray bandwagon.  We're not going in that direction at all...at least, any time soon.

I don't know why, but my library gets all new movies in regular and Blu-ray.

You are lucky.

I have never looked at the collection in the library, only for a few online, and just did this 2 days ago.

I think it's safe to say that Mr. Brown will never be a part of Kritzerland, whether show or recording.  The closest we got was when I did the Q&A with him for the alumni association at LACC.

Okay, so here's a question for BK or anyone else who can jump in:

I've never seen a stage production of FUNNY GIRL.  How does it stand up these days, particularly in the shadow of the film?  Do people do it?  Is it performed basically unaltered?

I just put the album in the To Play stack near the turntable so it will get listened to sometime soon.  I can't even remember when I heard it last.

Yesterday, I signed up for Netflix.  At least, I'm going to do the free trial for a month.

Our local Blockbuster closed a few weeks ago, so yesterday I went over to the next closest one (7 miles away), only to find that they have raised their rates to almost double what they were before.

So, I said "Screw it!" and left.

I should have my first 2 DVDs from Netflix by the end of this week.

I just heard this morning that as of last night, Netflix lost about 2000 movies.  Doing a quick search, I found THIS little article about it. :P

I'm renting the DVDs, not streaming.

Just read that Deanna Durbin died today at the age of 91. Please don't say who is Deanna Durbin.

Yes I read that. She was delightful with a wonderful singing voice.

I especially enjoyed her young adult films.

Deanna Durbin made "adult films"...when she was young?? :o

;)

LOL  I knew this would happen but I was too lazy to re-word my post.

Decided to come home and work here today.  Cal was really mad when we got home. She has the funniest mad face.   Anyway, she's resting comfortably.  Between the weather, worrying about her and not getting a lot of sleep, I'm not feeling so hot.  Oh, I haven't had any caffine today.  Maybe I'll make some ice tea.

I hope Callie is okay!

I've been going through hell booking an August flight to Dublin. Oy!

Thanks Elmore.  I'm hoping she's ok too

My Ask BK Question today is for DR Cillaliz.

Dear DR Cillaliz,

If a juror does something that gets him/her removed from a jury, would there be criminal charges filed?

I've loved the library photos today. Here's our main library. It may look familiar t those who have seen the Spy Kids movies. They used it as the location for the children's spy headquarters in the movies.

Like when we decided to go into the Adult Toy Store in NYC during our HHW walk! LOL!

(It was a toy store, but geared towards adults who collect stuff, but DR Vixmom and The Vixter didn't realize that)

Oh yes!!  I was afraid to go in until Jose assured us it was fine ---- then LATER in the tour........ we stayed outside!!!
