Back from a sandwich and no fries or onion rings (I have been SO good about not having fries or onion rings - it's been four months now).  I decided the jog would happen this afternoon so that I could finish the liner notes before I had my meal o' the day - I did finish and sent them on their merry way, so both packages should be able to go in tomorrow for approvals.

Drats I was just going to plant some flowers but someone is mowing their lawn right near me. And I am allergic to freshly cut grass and cannot breathe out there.  I wonder how long it would take for the smell to go away. I guess I'll check back in two hours.

IT is supposed to rain for the next three days. So probably no planting flowers and no bike rides those days. :(

I sent Claire Moore (original Ellen in the helicopter show) an email in April telling her about our show and asking if she had any thoughts about the Ellen character.  I wasn't sure if the email would get to her as I found the address on some website that I had never heard of.  Anyway, she got it and wrote back this morning.  The inner fan boy in me is excited beyond words as I've loved her music since the day I got serious about musical theatre.  Of course, I've created a Claire Moore playlist to use as I pack my life away today.  Such a great day already!

Matthew, that is so cool!!  I don't suppose you asked her about the changing of "It's Her or Me" to "Now That I've Seen Her."  I always wondered about how and why it happened, and how she felt about having to redo it.  I have the original CD release with "It's Her or Me." :)

She discussed that in her response.  It was one of my questions to her.  It was cool to hear what she had to say.

From the email:

Quote
. Poor thing! I loved playing her although the constant re-writes in our preview time was a bit of a pain as it really impacted on the character. 'It's her or me' so much more confrontational than 'Now that I've seen her'. Which lyrics did you use I wonder? Did you know that there was a different song which got thrown out during rehearsals? It was called ' What if he doesn't come back home tonight'. I loved the role and I still love the show

Took my Mother on a major grocery shopping trip and came home exhausted.  I had some lunch and then sat and vegged in my recliner for a couple of hours.  Getting ready now to go to an AAUW board meeting this evening

You can still rate a book 3 1/2 stars on goodreads. Just include it in the text. Many many people do this (including myself). I need half stars, so I use them a lot.

LOL But then that would require me to make a comment.

I think we rate books differently. To me 3 stars is okay. 4 stars is I like it. 4.5 I like it a lot. And 5 stars is rare it means I absolutely love it/perfection. I think I have given 5 stars to maybe 5 books this year so far (out of 46 or so). I don't give 5 stars easily.

I think 3 stars is a decent rating.  There are plenty of authors I gladly read again but only give a 3 star rating to.  Most those books would get a 3 1/2 if there were a half star option and why I'm more bothered not having the half star in the 3 stars ratings.

4 stars is a very good rating from me, especially as I give few books 5 stars.  I think I've given fewer books 5 stars this year than you have.  Since 4 stars, to me, is a high recommendation I don't mind as much not having the half star.

I would say we think pretty much the same about the rating.  I just think I'm less generous than you are.

I tried to start a monthly, let's get together for dinner and live music, with the group I hang out with.

It was good (although no one seems to care about listening to music) the first 2 times.

Now it morphed into a Tuesday evening, no music, but I send the email info and I can't even be there.

Oh well.

I think I'm butt hurt.

Oh well.

Is it because Tuesday is now the day that you can't be there or you don't want to go because they dropped the music?

When we lived in Michigan the second time we lived in a neighborhood where everyone had a lawn service.  It seemed to me that we all had our lawns mowed on the same two days of the week, days which I had to cover my nose and mouth for half of my walk.

Keith was planning to plant the last of the petunias today.  A frost, and possible snow, warning was released for tonight.  Instead of planting he will be covering the ones already in the ground and bringing the rest inside.

Correction, our weather advisory is for tomorrow night, not tonight.  I really can't imagine we will get snow.  It is so beautiful today it is difficult to imagine a frost warning-lol

However I got home and turned on the weather channel because the clouds were looking dark.  When I did they had live coverage of the tornado as it devastated Moore, Okla.  They are saying it's worse than Joplin was.   The damage is 20 mile long and 2 1/2 miles wide.  Kids were in school and the school was hit.  I'm just heartsick

It's hard to know what to say. It's all such cold comfort for the victims. i have mostly questions, but the news of the school is truly devastating. I hope Sioux City will be okay.

Fantastic!  Thanks for posting the info, Larry!  I'm downloading it here at work but I think that it'll take too long.  I'm leaving early to go to rehearsal and it won't be done by the time I leave.  I'll have to re-download at home tonight...hopefully, it'll still be available!
