The IHOP Chicken Florentine crepes come with chicken breast strips, sautéed spinach, mushrooms, onions & Swiss cheese topped with hollandaise sauce . they are 440 calorie a piece  - the entree is 2 crepes  but I find one is enough  and 440 calories isn't too much for dinner

Monday afternoon greetings!  Nothing life-threatening or earth-shattering, but I'm not having the best day.  My mood is not good and I've just returned from a hell-ish grocery shopping trip.  In about 40 minutes Richard and I are going to the Y, where I'll take out my frustrations on the treadmill and NuStep and try to return here in a better frame of mind.

DR Ginny, I'm sorry! Did something bad happen at Kroger's? Is it the collision of stars and planets?  Was it my threat to retire to Ohio and live off my small Social Security, pension, and the kindness of the few friends I have there?

I hope the day improves.

On another bizarre note, in December I got a Christmas card from the Macbeths and last week they sent me my high school graduation photo in my dad's possession when he died. What's that line about Greeks bearing gifts?

Also, has anyone had a problem with  this site's  "your session timed out"?  I'm surprised that this has happened to me several times now.

Yes, it has happened to me several times, but at least it doesn't erase your post.

THE MACBETHS sent a Christmas card!!  Did it contain Ricin?

Well, I must go to bed...but I've finished all the "Behind the Candelabra" DVDs, so I'll send them out today.  Just to confirm, the people who've asked for them are BK, Druxy, John G., Arnold M. Brockman and Kate.  And I also have "Carousel" for Laura.

DVDs have been sent!  Let me know if you don't get them.

I didn't get mine.

Got some snacks at Gelson's and am now watching last night's Mad Men.  Another actor directed episode.  One amusing thing - the hotel they're staying at in California, called the Vista Del Mar, is my former Santa Monica residence, The Shores.  I do believe you can see my apartment.

Larry, when you log in, do you log in at the bottom of a page and specify a time to stay logged in, or do you log in at the top of the page where one of the drop-down box options is "forever"?  I never log out, so I never have to log in...on my home computer, at least.

I am logged in "Forever" but I still time out.

Was just talking crepes with Mom today. I need her recipe. Unfortunately, she says, "Well, you take a little flour and some milk. ..."

And I want to laugh: "How little on the flour? Two teaspoons or three pounds? How much milk? A gallon or a spoonful?"

We've worked for four years on this cookbook (well, I have -- she spent 55 years baking them all) and I can't get through to her that I need measurements.

We are trying to hire two assistants at the office  - we had three interviews scheduled today  - the first one was 15 minutes late  and no phone call  - although it was teeming rain and  she was on a highway so perhaps a phone call was not really possible

Interviewees #2 and #3  were just no shows - not so much as a phone call

That makes the decision pretty easy. Time to interview more people

I don't get that. Whatever happened to class? Now, no one even says oops (or spoo) when they're passing their gas.

but there are no measurements, Silly - you just put in enough flour for how many you want o make and then add milk until it looks right!

Tonight I am going to a board meeting for an organization I am active with. They have their board meetings in bars. Much more fun than church board meetings.

There are a couple of local AA groups that always meet in bars.

Thank you to DRs George, Elmore, John G, Laura, and MBarnum for the vibes, commiserations, and good wishes.  Exercising at the Y helped, as did the nice spaghetti & salad dinner I prepared when we got home.

At Kroger:

1)  Some geezer tried to chat me up about the price of decaf coffee,
2)  The first container of cottage cheese that I took out of the cooler had an expiration date of May 1,
3)  In the check out line, after I'd waited for the 2 people ahead of me to finish and after I'd loaded half of my groceries onto the conveyor, they decided to close that register, and
4)  The bagger in the second line dropped the reusable bag into which she'd just packed my cottage cheese and vanilla yogurt.  The white stuff went everywhere and she said, "You can wash the bag..."  There was a management-type nearby, who gave me a new reusable bag, made sure I got replacements for the 2 items (which took forever), and nodded sympathetically when I told her what an awful visit to their store it had been.

By #4 I would have shot someone.

OH OH OH!!!  Can you make one more Behind the Candelabra?   I would love it.

It's not too late!

Also, has anyone had a problem with  this site's  "your session timed out"?  I'm surprised that this has happened to me several times now.

DR George, that sounds wonderful, but could you explain how to make it work?  I've never understood what that "forever" is supposed to do.  If you stay logged in, how is it your name only shows up when you're really "here"?

I just assume that when I close my browser (even without logging out), the HHW board can tell and makes me disappear from the "Users Online" list.  When I come back, I always go to www.haineshisway.com (that's what I have bookmarked) and when I go in, I'm automatically logged in at that point.

I would think that your name only shows up when you have haineshisway up in your browser. So if you leave the page up then it would show that you were always here. But if you are only logged in (but the page is not up on your computer) then it shows you aren't here.

What she said. :)

Hmm...maybe it's a setting on your browser.  I have mine set to remember my passwords.

I tried to do this, but no go.  Closed the tab and waited a minute, then went to the HHW board on my smartphone -- on which I had specifically logged out earlier today.  The user list showed me still logged in.
