Left for a bit.....yes DR DRUXY....I was referring to her assertion about Jeff Chandler.  Until someone....ANYONE....else comes forward with a similar story, I have to put it in the fiction category.

Shortly after the book was released, her ex-husband's widow said that Esther used to come over to their house two or three times a week on the pretext that she wanted to make sure the children were getting enough to eat....and at the same time empty out the liquor cabinet.....

Interesting about the telephone call, but it certainly fits in with the pattern she (and others) describe about her marriage

Mine is a collapsible koozie, but you get the idea.   You never know when you need a koozie

SOOO  as if the animal kingdom assault wasn't enough.  Last night I woke up at 3:45, thinking I was hearing noises and saw Ricky very intent on a particular window.  Thinking that I would see some beast outside I looked out the window and saw a man go in my neighbors window!  WHAT!!! So I grabbed the phone and called 911.  It took forever for the cops to figure out the house next to my address when there is only one house on my street next to my address with the main floor lights on at 3:45 AM.  Anyway, my neighbors are out of town so I was really concerned.  I did tell the 911 operator that they have a son and it could be nothing, but why would anyone be going in a window at 3:45 AM.      I finally had to go outside and point to the house.  There were three police cars and a K9 unit all parked outside my house, lol.  Anyway, it must have been their son because they went to the door, talked to them and then left.   So there I was at 4:15 AM wide awake.....

Yikes!!  Good thing it all worked out, Cilla!

Greetings from Toyland!

I got here, stepped onto trhe elevator, pressed 10, and rode to 5, then the alarm began rining, I pressed 10 and got to 6 but the door didn't open, it just reversed and went back to the first floor. The elevator was also screwed up. I called Peter and advised him not to begin a trek to Manhattan until we knew the elevators were working. Ten minutes later I was in the office.

After I left the apartment, I stopped at the bank: my bank card has been cancelled because of suspected fraud.

What is going on today?

Good morning, all.

Nothing like starting the day with a little Betty Boop:

I had (have?) a songbook with the whole song in it.  It's got five or six verses and pretty funny.

I've been wanting to revisit GIANT - the movie - for the longest time.
I will probably do that, too, one of these days, but I'm listening to Michael John LaChiusa's score for the musical version. This is the most melodic score of his career, and also one of his best. Just loving it.  Best score I've heard since "Eileen."

I've listened to this a couple of times now and I really like it, too.  And I love the cast.  Everyone is wonderful!

'Happy Birthday' lawsuit demands Warner Music pay back millions in royalties

Quote
It's a song known around the world; "Happy Birthday to You" is performed, heard, and played millions of times every day, but it's also a major moneymaker for Warner Music subsidiary Warner/Chappell, which owns the copyright to the song. Jennifer Nelson, a filmmaker who was producing a documentary on the song, discovered that to use the track in a single scene would cost $1,500. Although she agreed to the fee and signed a licensing deal, she's now filed a lawsuit in the hope that a New York court will invalidate Warner Music's copyright claim.

Nelson says that the song, which is an adaption of the 19th Century song "Good Morning to All," is in the public domain. A full copy of the filing, available at Techdirt, makes for entertaining reading. The lawsuit says that "irrefutable documentary evidence" dating back as far as 1893 shows that the copyright to any part of the song expired no later than 1921. It adds that if Warner Music "owns any rights to Happy Birthday to You, those rights are limited to the extremely narrow right to reproduce and distribute specific piano arrangements for the song published in 1935." The filing calls for the song to be made public domain, and asks that Warner Music pay back the millions of dollars it's collected through "unlawful licensing fees."

Wow, did she make that deal just to do this lawsuit?

I wondered that myself.  HERE is an article on CNN.com.

Ah, Marjorie...   She's such a caution!    8)

Does she still have her see-saw?

You know the old rhyme we used to recite when we played!

Back from the jog.  Since I don't really care for the food where I'm going tonight, I think I'll go have some poached eggs and toast to tide me over and then I'll just have the low-cal salmon tonight and pick at it.

They stopped offering that service many years ago.  I read the other day that overdraft and other fees account for something like 60% of the earnings for a bank.

Yes, many, many, many, many years ago.

Dog ownership is fun. But it's more fun when it's not raining.    :)

;D So very true, and especially not fun when traveling in a camper with a wet dog.
