Greetings from Olando.  The flight from CA yesterday was great, un-eventful, etc.  mom and I are attempting a relaxing week here at Walt Disney World.

I just finished "Murder at the School Musical" and I really enjoyed it.  Not to spoil anything, but I liked how bk wrote this book and I like how the story ended up. When I get home, I'll do up an amazon review.

I buckled down Winsocki and finished the commentary - great to have that out of the way.  I'm bringing it with me as I'm sure I'll add and subtract - I wrote it quickly, just to get it done and I'll definitely be adding some more humor to it - I never have the humor on the first pass - that always comes when I finesse.

I was going to try and be in bed by nine, but that just isn't going to happen - so I'll be happy if I'm asleep by ten-thirty.  That will give me close to six hours of sleep, which is fine.

DR Ginny - that sounds like a lovely way to spend a day!

Yes, I'm looking forward to it, DR Singdaw.  This is the Methodist church where Richard grew up, we were married (as we're his parents),

you and Richard are Richard's parents?  Didn't that cause some kind of rift in the space time continum?!

Been running like crazy.

Fun stuff, i hope.

Or do you mean running for exercise?

Just back from a place outside of Austin that hosted a big barbecue fest. Wonderful western swing band played while we ate. Just loved hearing a western touch to the likes of "Sunny Side of the Street." The rains stayed away and it wasn't too hot, even with all the lit smokers and fire pits. Pork ribs, beef ribs, and, my favorite, the San Antonio barbecue place offered smoked pastrami with their rye saison beer, which tastes like rye bread. A perfect combination.

The birthday gal did not fall asleep. I consider this a success.     :)

It turned out that many of the songs I picked had a personal connection for her, so she got very teary and it was all very sweet.

And my "Rose's Turn" killed.     ;D

I'm sorry, but did you forget to match it with "Momma, Look Sharp"? Or "When You're Good to Mama"? Or "Mamma Mia"?

We were invited to a free dinner at The Texas Roadhouse tonight - we were given menu cards giving us  the entree we were allowed to have - the Vixter had pulled pork and I had  a 6 oz sirloin smothered in onions and mushrooms... we were allowed to pick our own sides, Vixter had a salad and baked potato and I had the green beans and loaded sweet potato

non alcoholic drinks were free as well... we also had a baskets of their delicious bread (made fresh every five minutes apparently!) which is served with honey cinnamon butter

they also had servers  offering samples of the appetizers, I had some ribs, their version of the bloomin onion , I think they call it a catus flower, loaded cheese fries, and a hot boneless wing

I think I am going to get enourmously fat with the Vixter working there    and I think I will enjoy every second of it

They're not bad. I find the drinks a little overpriced and I don't care for the sweet bread or sweet butter, but I think the pork chop is wonderful. So, try that on a future visit.

So, I was shopping at Costco with my son, and out of the corner of my eye I see someone running toward me with arms open to give me a BIG HUG.

It was so nice to see DR Kerry today!
Sweet. But, where's the video?

And I am home from Toyland! We ran out of paper about 2:30,with 6 numbers to go, and we ran out of tape around 2:00, so we reconvene next week when new products arrive.

Peter kindly gave me a ride to the Upper West Side, and now I'm thinking about dinner.

I do not know what Goodreads is, and I think I will stay that way.

If you like to read then goodreads is an invaluable site. I love it and use it a lot. It allows you to track the books you've read and the books you want to read.

I have tried to like Goodreads but I find it confusing and not that interesting.  I don't need to track the books I've read and want to read - I wouldn't even know how to do such a thing, nor would I want to.

As to the girl, I'm not going to comment (although your post really makes me want to), but would have every right to do so once she makes it public on a blog.  Many authors, of books, plays, films have written angry and/or pointed letters in rebuttal to critics, especially when the critics have been really stupid in their criticism.  That's the thing about this girl - she is obviously like the girls Adriana doesn't care for - and is "reviewing" the book in that way.  She levels certain objections that have no basis in reality in what's written in the book - that's not opinion, that's stupid.  It's fine to not like the book, but not when it has obviously hit a nerve with her in terms of the "stereotypes" she's going on about.  But that's the thing about this generation - just as with EVERY generation there ARE stereotypes.  I have sat next to teenage girls and had to endure the conversations and they are exactly what's in this book - I don't make this stuff up, you know.

I'm not big on many of these review sites because I have no idea who these people are who are reviewing the books. Fifteen people could gush on and on about a book and it could turn out to be one of the worst books I've ever read. This girl didn't like "Lord of the Flies," and millions of others have (many besides her have not, I'll admit), but her review is part of the databank and those other readers' are not.

Cilla, you have your very own radar??  That's pretty cool!  Was it expensive?

;)

LOL, no, there is the Weather channel online and our local tv station has life radar online

After I finish it, I've got a ghost story, the title of which I forget, the new Mary Wickes biography, and a Jane Austen mystery, Death Comes To Pemberley. which will be a BBC miniseries next year.

I also want to reread Tom Jones and Robin Buss' translation of The Count of Monte Cristo.
I wish I had time to read. I did finish listening to Michael Pollen's "Cooked" in the car on the way to Austin and did start the new Harlen Coben mystery, "Six Years." But I was to be reading a lot of stuff that isn't on tape.

Last night, I made the mistake of going into a Half-Price Books and finding 16 volumes of Balzac I didn't have. No lunches this week. And no room in the house for 16 new hardbacks.

This morning, before 8 a.m., I was out at the Bountiful Baskets pickup area near the house to help fill the baskets and try the service for the first time. Have any of you tried this yet? You get a load of fresh fruit and vegetables for about $20.

I got some very good things and a few things I could live without (way too much fruit for my diabetes) and not enough vegetables. But the price was good.

I left for rehearsal for flute choir at 11:00. Then I was at the ice cream days Art in the Park until we played at 3:00.  Got home about 5:00pm.  Checked the traps...nothing

I was fine about the coon for most of the evening.  But I had put a little fresh cat food in the trap by the window and was sure that it was going to come out at dusk and go in to the trap.  No such luck.  So I was a little stressed and that stresses the cats.

Then I went to the opening of a new farmers market on another side of town. Lots of urban hipsters getting their organic produce in the same way that the people at Bountiful Baskets were getting their conventional produce. And the prices were astronomically different. Still, I picked up some non-GMO corn to grill.
