The director of Johnny X sent me a DVD in the mail - haven't watched it yet.

Good afternoon.  I have a very nice morning with my book group discussing "A Town Like Alice".  I've cleaned up and now have to head into town to do an errand.

Good morning. I spent a fun day chasing butterflies yesterday.

Beautiful photos, Laura. I have one to share with you.

Laura, I saw five of these in various sizes on the parsley plant, which isn't thriving in the heat. But I also planted the Mexican love plant this year to attract more butterflies.

Beautiful, John! Black swallowtail caterpillars! Thank you for leaving some parsley for them.

My parsley is shot. But when I get caterpillars, they seem to favor the fennel over the parsley.

TCB and any who's interested:  I believe the episode of American Ninja Warriors  with my nephew will be on tonight at 8 pm and 10 pm and repeated later in the week.  Not sure if it's for Pacific time as well as Eastern:

Back from a BLT-A - saw Kat Kramer (daughter of Stanley) and chatted - and confirmed for sure that Criterion has indeed been working on It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World for a supposed November release.  Whether they make that date or not is unknown, but that's the anniversary of the film and it's also Stanley's 100th.

That would be so cool!  I wonder which cut of the film they'll use...or if they'll have different versions like the theatrical and a director's cut.

And while I normally don't care about movie anniversaries, that's a 50th and a 100th, all wrapped up in one package -- and how are you gonna beat that?

Get me off  this damn page.  I'm quite ready for this day to be done - very peculiar and I'm very bored of peculiar right now.

Hi, everyone,

Hope you're all having lovely days. I'm sneaking in between biz and a first rehearsal for a staged reading of a new play, about J. Bruce Ismay, the man who was blamed for the Titanic's mess. You know... because we can't get enough of that distaster.  :D

BK, I was not in tarnation, just busy. By the by, Jenna sounds spectacular in that video. We never get to hear the actual performance from backstage so clearly. Just gorgeous. What a talent!

TOD:  a few faves from '54 to '60

Don't Be Cruel - Elvis Presley

You Send Me - Sam Cooke

Johnny Be Good - Chuck Berry

Shout - Isley Brothers

Love Potion Number 9 - The Clovers

Dream Lover - Bobby Darin

Venus - Frankie Avalon

Georgia on My Mind  - Ray Charles

Only the Lonely -  Roy Orbison

Chain Gang - Sam Cooke

Save the Last Dance for Me - The Drifters

There's a lovely rendition of Save the Last Dance for Me on Manhattan Transfer's "Tonin'" CD, with Ben E. King joining them as a guest artist.

Well my hubby (Jerry) and I finally decided on the paint for our kitchen.  It is Benjamin Moore, Segovia Red.  It is a beautifull brownish red.  Very elegant and stylish looking.

It is very expensive, in an eggshell finish.  But it is worth it to buy the best paint.  It wears so  well.

I can't wait to get it done.

Then we will paint our entrance door (maybe the same color) and the base of the kitchen bar counter.

I've had some Chinese food for dinner and I'm going to settle in, watch some RIZZOLI & ISLES, read a little Jane Austen and go to bed.

Tomorrow, I'll go to Toyland in the morning and at 1:00pm, I'm seeing a friend in a matinee of a NYMF show.

And, continuing in the same vein: does anyone remember watching the television show Apple's Way?      ;D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYVn2KU5b1E

Vincent Van Patten (before he turned tennis pro, i assume?) AND Kristy McNichol (before she played Buddy in Follies, I mean, in Family)  playing the kids?  I hadn't remembered Kristy McNichol on that

I was about to say that looks like a take off on "The Walton's" when Earl Hamner's name appeared. ;D
