Back at work today after one day off during which I had dental surgery (two implants). It was a three-hour procedure. I'm a hard case when it comes to anesthesia and the doctor had to stop and administer four doses over the course of those three hours. She and I laugh about how short-lasting those shots are, especially since most folks could get by on one shot. After the procedure was over, I stood up, walked down a hall and went to reception to process payment. That's when it all hit me. The right side of my face was numb enough for just about anything. It's like all that anesthetic had been waiting to be unleashed. The numbness didn't wear off until about 6 p.m.Meanwhile, Ibuprofen has taken care of all possible discomfort from the surgery. No swelling, either.
one lousy WAV file
One more pop-in, before my last regular rehearsal for the sinking ship play. As good as it is on some levels, it's another case of too much "staging" for a reading. For instance, being asked to literally stage "strangle" someone with two hands... while reading my lines from the script. Really?Too much. Gaaah.
Looks like a fun Poppins movie, DR Mike.
While their songs have warmed hearts all over the world for decades, the brothers Richard and Robert Sherman aren’t the household names they should be…even after taking home Oscars, Grammys and the National Medal of the Arts! We hope this latest in our series that began with Grammy winning Henry Mancini: Pink Guitar and Cole Porter: Delovely Guitar will help change that! The songs chosen are some of the Sherman Brothers’ most beloved compositions for the movies, the Disneyland theme park and the World’s Fair, as well as a #1 hit recorded by no less than ex-Beatle Ringo Starr! The instrumentalists feature former rock stars like Greg Hawkes and Elliot Easton from THE CARS, Laurence Juber from WINGS and world-renowned Australian guitarist, Tommy Emmanuel…plus a dozen other Grammy and award winning players!Produced by Grammy award winner James Jensen and Bernadette Bowman with the guidance of Richard M Sherman himself, this collection will bring back memories and create many new ones. The artists truly honor the songs and yet also bring out something unique that shines a whole new light on these melodic masterpieces!1 Winnie the Pooh / Tommy Emmanuel2 A Spoonful of Sugar / Laurence Juber3 Hushabye Mountain / Al Petteway4 There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow / Kenny Sultan5 You’re Sixteen / Greg Hawkes6 Feed The Birds (Tuppence A Bag) / Doug Smith7 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang / Mark Hanson8 Let’s Get Together / Pat Donohue9 The Slipper and The Rose Waltz / Jim Tozier10 Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious / Eltjo Haselhoff11 The Age of Not Believing / Elliot Easton12 I Wan’na Be Like You / Mike Dowling13 Chim Chim Cher-ee / Nick Charles14 Stay Awake / Tim Pacheco15 It’s a Small World / Mark Hanson & Doug Smith duet

I am now the proud owner of the expanded laserdisc version of 1776. Now I just need to get myself a laserdisc player or a good transfer service!
I am seeing a lot about Orson Scott Card in the news. Has anyone read any of his sci-fi "Ender's Game" novels? I don't know anything about them.
