Today's session was also great fun, although not as smooth as yesterday's thanks to three difficult charts. I had several suggestions for little changes today, but once we got everything it was splendid and certainly we wrapped on time and that's all that matters. When there's no click track and a lot of rubato and Lanny is conducting and not playing keyboard, it can take a bit of time to get it together and working the way we all want it to. But these musicians are fantastic and it really only took a couple of times talking through things for them to get with it. Today we only had strings, French horns and reeds, plus rhythm, harp and percussion. Once everyone left we had some Astroburger (great, as always - last time I had one was Sandy's vocal session on the Christmas album, which was last September or October!), then we did the one piano vocal, which came out great, and then Lanny began doing a handful of piano overdubs - I stayed for two of those, and then left he and the engineer to finish the few others.
