They can call themselves Windsors but they'll always be Saxe-Coburg Gothas to me.

Vixdad reported the accident to our Insurer and started the process assuming he'd be stuck paying the $500 deductible

Shortly after dropping his car off at the Geico repair shop he received a call from State Farm  stating that their insured had reported the accident and taken full responsibility for the accident and State Farm would be paying all the cost sfo the repair

Good morning, all! Today is Pied Piper Day, the day that supposedly 130-160 children (depending on whose historic account) vanished from the German town of Hamelin in 1376. This has fascinated me since I first heard Robert Browning's poem somewhere in my elementary education past.

I have always suspected Van Johnson.

The Massapequa Zoo  in Massapequa  and  Adventureland in Farmingdale were my first amusement parks --  The Massapequa Zoo is long gone but  Adventureland is still there -  (about 1/2 mile from my office)

Sweet Liberty with Alan Alda and Michael Caine filmed at Adventureland and so did Music and Lyrics with drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant -- supposedly the movie Adventureland  was really about our Adventureland -- but it did not film there

I have really enjoyed the last few weeks of notes; even more than usual.  The pictures and the songs and the videos are a great way to start the day.

TOD:

We didn't have amusement parks anywhere near where I grew up.  We'd have all the rides at the County fair each year, and I enjoyed the Boardwalk at Daytona Beach for one week each summer (usually the 4th of July week).  The rides were okay there, but it was the "amusements"...games and such...that kept me entertained...especiallly Skee-Ball.

In my mid-teens, I enjoyed the amusement park at Myrtle Beach SC...especially the roller coaster I'd have paid double to get off at the top of the first rise.  After the complete ride, however, I was in love with the thrill of it all.

And, yes, this weeken's accident is exactly why I'd never do it again.  There is something to be said for being young and stupid!  But far more can be said about being sadder but wiser.

I snarl, I hiss: How can ignorance be compared to bliss?
I spark, I fizz for the lady who knows what time it is.
I cheer, I rave for the virtue I'm too late to save
 The sadder-but-wiser girl for me.

For some reason, I had this phobia about the "World of Tomorrow" ride (is that the right name?) in Tomorrowland. I was scared that I was going to be shrunk down to microscopic size, and what if they couldn't undo it?     :)

I love rollercoasters of any and all sorts, but the DH does not, and so I rarely have an opportunity to go on them. And this weekend's accident notwithstanding, I still would, if I had a chance. But I'm funny that way.

You are funny a lot of ways.

T.O.D.

When I was very young, there was an amusement park directly across from the entrance to Point Defiance here in Tacoma; or, approximately one block from where I am now living.  It wasn't a very large park, and it had seen better days; but it was pretty magical to me.  Now the only part left is the go-cart track.

That was it, except for the Puyallup Fair (just renamed the Washington State Fair) until the summer we drove down to Disneyland  in 1962.
