Wasn't that the first jingle to actually be rerecorded as a non-jingle song and released as a single (or something like that)...or is that just an urban legend?

The "I'm a Pepper" ad was written by Barry Manilow, I think???

Maybe I should google that, about Manilow and the Pepper ad.

oh how I wanted the  box of 64 with  built in sharpner

My mom would only let me get the 48, but my neighbor, Kelly, had the 64. I was so jealous

Not a legend, that was the truth

My grandparents took me on a Crayola factory tour once, when I was growing up. I don't think I got a free sample of a box of 64, though!

Well enough fun, I need to go get dressed and go to a party I don't want to go to. I'm sure it will be fun, but I'm really not in the mood.  I'll make an appearance and at least say hi to some folks.  I'm sure I'll end up having a good time as most of my really good friends will be there

A little off subject, but the classic Grand Hotel commercial from the 1990's

Sounds to me like there are a lot of DR's who need to go crazy and buy themselves a box of 64 colors!

Yours, Anne!
I love this show. I think I saw it three times. Enid Futterman wrote some simple, well-structured lyrics that grew as Anne matured. And Michael Cohen's music is lovely and heartfelt.

Back from the barbecue trail. I didn't drive as far as I had planned, but I did visit more places than were on my list.

What does it say about me that my eye went NOT to the guy, NOR to the food he's holding, but DIRECTLY to the fired orange le creuset on the shelf in the background?

Sounds like a personal problem.

There was an Anne Frank musical about someone time-traveling back to try to save Anne Frank.

here's the link

http://www.playbill.com/news/article/77360-Saving-Anne-Musical-About-Time-Travel-and-Anne-Frank-Gets-US-Premiere-in-MI

I'm sorry.  I just think the subject matter is inappropriate for a musical...or a time travel story.

It's like doing a musical about 9/11 or the Fort Hood massacre.

Maybe it just needs more distance, time-wise.

Druxy, I have the cast recording to Yours, Anne and it's a small, intimate and respectful show.  I think the recording is quite good (I've never seen the show, itself).  It has since been reworked into a song cycle, now called I Am Anne Frank.  That might be more to your liking.  It's basically the same score, but not an actual "musical."  Now, it's just excerpts of Anne's diary set to the same music of the show and almost all of the other characters have been cut.  I also like this other recording.

Happened upon some pretty little Texas towns, a few with those great 19th century county courthouses at the center of the old town. The kind that are so big each side stretches to the length of a city block.

Loved all the commercials!  It still amazes me that not only do people want to still see these sorts of things, but it's really amazing that they all still exist...AND a site like YouTube exists to show them.

Talk about a miracle of modern technology.

Well, I've been at work for a few hours and it's time to leave.  I went to my sister's earlier today and she had made some wonderful waffles.  She brought me back some genuine Canadian maple syrup...actually purchased in Canada (from her trip there, which is why I had to feed her cats)! :D It was delish!  The syrup, not the cats.  She also gave me a pen and a key chain with CANADA written on them and some chocolate-maple cookies!  I haven't opened those, yet, but I will soon.  She also paid me back for her part of our dad's birthday computer, so that was nice.  Anyway, I want to get something to eat and then I'm going home.

Be back later!
