What's all this about DR John G. writing a new book called The Humongous Scat??      :o

Yes, but it's under my nom de plume, which I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.

Congratulations to DR John G on signing the book contract!

Ahem, DR Vixmom, I think I volunteered to be research assistant first  ;)

Thanks, Ginny. I can use many assistants.

I suspect whoever shows up first in San Antone' ready to hit the ground running will win the assignment.

And you'll be here when?

DR JohnG, congratulations on the new book deal!!

Thanks, MBarnum. And one of the local Indian/Pakistani restaurants has a delicious plate of curried goat brains on the menu that you have to try.

I don't believe I've congratulated DR John G. on the book.

Congratulations on the book, DR John G.!  Seriously, how great to have that opportunity handed to you, and I can't even imagine how great it would be to be a participant survivor of the Texas Barbecue Tour!

I haven't survived it yet. Lots of work to come. But thank you.

That's pretty cool!  I also love the Tardis fridge decal that one can get:

Finished "Cuckoo's Calling" today after a marathon reading of the last 200 pages. I thought she built the tension toward the end quite well, but the middle seemed awfully padded.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through.  The show has taken up too much of my reading time.  I have been enjoying it, though.

Jrand, if you haven't opened them and they're the not extended versions, they're not worth watching - the extended versions add a LOT of material to each film and story and they are 1000% better with that added stuff.

Have had a fascinating day.  Had another ham and swiss on rye, without the onion rings, got some good news on an upcoming Kritzerland project in terms of transfers, and then was invited to the FotoKem lab to meet up with Robert A. Harris, who is doing some work there.  While I promised not to talk about it, I can just say it's on a film that many are anticipating on Blu and Ray and I now know ALL the details about all of it - and saw some fun footage.  This was just some of the raw transfers - color correction comes later in the week and I'm going to see if I can watch some of that, too.

This is the haboob attacking Phoenix yesterday:

Hoping that DRs Laura and Kerry are safe and sound!

WOW!

I keep seeing that photo and thinking:  No way.  There's no way that isn't photo-shopped or something.  It just can't be real!!

That looks suspiciously like a scene from Bound for Glory.  Cue the Leonard Rosenman!!!

I seem to recall that entire movie was filmed in a kind of swirl of dust and amber light. Great music.

Oh my god.  Dying.

EDIT:  I'm in awe of BK just knowing all the details.  Let alone all the rest.     :)

So, there's a menu touting something called squash blossoms with pimiento ricotta. I think that's a fancy way of saying pimento cheese, if you ask me.

Got the 2-disc set, The Best of Burt Bacharach: Anyone Who Had a Heart, from the library. Interesting collection of who's doing what. Isaac Hayes is performing the only song from "Promises," "I'll Never Fall in Love Again." No rhyme or reason on the order of songs, either, but I doubt I'll mind that.
