I will begin reading CIRCLE OF FRIENDS, by Maeve Binchy today.

I saw the movie years ago and really liked it.

I started to read the novel then, but stopped (for some reason), but I hope to finish it this time.

Has any DR"S read or saw CIRCLE OF FRIENDS?

Love the Christmas songs ideas, Mike. And it could be expanded to include some Hanukkah songs like the one from "Yours, Anne."

Also, belated congratulations on your recent milestone.

Loved the book, Kate. It had the leisure time to go into things that needed to be condensed or deleted for the purpose of dramatic tension for a movie. Don't remember exactly what as it's been about 20 years now, but I do recall enjoying that book more than most of the Binchey I read until her last two or three books.

TOD:

DR BK;

You could do a show based on the Benjamin Kritzer character, and his adventures.

You could write songs based on all the unique sayings and journeys Benjamin has.

I think it would be hysterical, heartwarming, and a SMASH!!!

I think that's an excellent idea.

Saw the film, read the book; the movie's story has been changed. I liked them both.

We saw Buyer and Cellar last night.  It's a one-man show starring Michael Urie.  It was inspired by Ms. Streisand's book, "My Passion for Design," in which she reveals that she has a "shopping mall" in her basement, with a doll shop, a candy shop, etc.  Michael plays a character who gets a job in the "mall."  Hilarity ensues when the lady of the house comes down to shop!  There's more to it than that, though.  Michael was really great.  He did all the voices, including Barbra and her husband (he didn't really try to imitate them, though.   We waited and chatted with him after the show.  He was really nice and appreciated that we waited awhile for him.

Thanks for the good wishes.  IT was really strange and is the talk today, there were tornadoes to our south, north, east and west - all close to us, yet none of them hit us. Unbelievable an we are counting our blessings.   I went out to Wynstone this morning.  It's an upscale development just to the west of town.  There were TONS of trees uprooted, ripped apart.  I saw some metal out buildings in shreds and wrapped around fences etc   A lot were right near a field of buffalo, (domestic not wild)  I wonder what they were thinking as the wind whipped by.  Anyway, last night the entrance to the gated community was completely blocked by downed trees.  Luckily no one needed an ambulance, it couldn't have gotten in.   I did see lots of shingles off roofs, serious roof damage etc, but not too many destroyed homes.  That's a good thing!

About 5:30 last night I was left a retirement party a little early - a part of our band played as the retiree is a member of the band - when I looked up at the sky (we all knew tornadoes were possible)  I could see rotation to the east moving one way and rotation to the west moving the other way.  I thought "Oh Crap, it's going to collide right over us"  I hurried home and wasn't here more than about 15 minutes when the sirens went off.  I got the cats and put them in their carriers and sat on the floor next to them until the all clear was given.   They weren't pleased at all, but if the storm did hit the house or windows blew out, I would be able to keep them safe if they were in their carriers.

Smart move going home early.  I never thought to put the cats in their carriers or leash a dog during storm warnings, glad I never needed to rush off with them.

Good morning.  Life is great, the only thing that would make it better is a donut like the picture in the notes.

So glad you enjoyed the Buyer and Cellar show with Michael Urie.

It sounds like it was very entertaining!
