I'm up and have been up since nine, just pondering the show.  I think the musical director gets here at noon.

Good morning, all.

Good day for an omelet.

My favorite is Mom's, which is really more of a frittata, but it's ham and cheese with celery tops baked in the eggs.

But I never say no to a good lobser omelet.

A lobster omelet!!  That sounds good.  I have never seen one on a menu here.  Lots of crab omelets, but I am really a big fan of crab - Dungeness or King.

I think my biggest omelet eating years were my L.A. ones, and oddly enough, the first one I remember upon moving to Hollywood in the summer of '72 was a banana omelet at Coffee Dan's.  Don't know what else was in it.  (Maybe raisins?)  Went back a few times for that one.

Otherwise, I usually just went for the heartier ones along the lines of chili and cheese, Mexican with chorizo (ate those a lot for weekend breakfasts at a great little diner called CJ's Pantry in Redondo Beach), western omelets, that kind of thing.

For a while, I was making them at home, usually the Mexican variety with diced green chiles, tomato, avocado, onion (loved green onions in omelets), perhaps cilantro, some kind of hot sauce, and always cheese.  I'd load those babies up.  Probably never learned the "correct" way of making omelets, flipping them or whatever, but I got pretty good at getting the ingredients laid out in the egg mixture in a large skillet, and carefully folding the eggs over.

This is making me hungry.

Chas, your Mexican omes sound good, except please leave the cilantro out of mine.  If I wanted my omelet to taste like soap, I would add a few chunks of Lifebuoy.

Jane, your own adventure in a natural Oz.

Speaking of Oz, I'm going to see the Lloyd Webber production of The Wizard of Oz this eve.  This will mark Smiley's 3rd musical he's ever seen.  (man, there's a lot of work to be done there!)  Anyway, I'm hoping to love this production as I've always thought that Oz never worked on stage because people just try and put the movie on stage, which never works.  There just isn't enough music in Act Two to make a good stage musical.  So, we'll see what Andrew has done.  I like the new songs, and from what I can tell, they move the action along.

Haven't tried Lifebuoy, but I love cilantro in just about anything.

We had to turn on the heat pump today.  First time using the device and it seems to be fine.  We don't use the furnace part until temperatures fall below 30 degrees....and then the furnace works.  Not sure exactly what happens....but those are the instructions.  This is our first year having a heat exchange system.....

I'll be back later today to tell my tale from yesterday.  My body is a bit sore but otherwise all is well.  My hiking group ended up hiking from 10:00 to almost 7:00.  As we made our way out of the woods we heard the sirens, and sure enough the sheriff's department was out there waiting for us.  :-[

Poor Keith said he knows how much he loves me cuz he was terrified.  Awww, brings tears to my eyes every time I think of him.

DR Jane are you going to tell us what happened?  Glad you are okay.

Pondering away - right now the ponder is two acts or one.  I'm having a little trouble trying to make separate acts work, even though I have strong openings and closings for each.  I may have to find three or four more songs to make the two acts work.

That's said to be a genetic thing. Thankfully, I'm not genetically predisposed against cilantro. I love the stuff.

First I'll catch up on the posts I missed.

DR Jennifer, to me simply walking a dog around a yard, even a big one, isn't fair to the dog so I wouldn't do it very often.  There are also walking paths and other places to walk but it isn't the same as a hiking trail where the dog can run and meet with other dogs.
