Voldemort is basically a middle school girl: he has a locket, a diary, a tiara, a ring, and is completely obsessed with a teenage boy.

My lines will continue to be worked on today.....my first hour at the rehearsal is scheduled for 6:39 p.m.  I rehearse my scenes until 8:50 p.m.  I will be going early just in case the director gets ahead of himself.

He is blocking the ENTIRE play today - we lost 5 days because of the weather, and he has been in Portugal since Tuesday....so here we go.

Our first performance is not until ONE WEEK FROM TONIGHT.

Pray for Rosemary's Baby.

Have a great rehearsal and break many legs, Jrand!!

Monday (late) afternoon greetings!  I slept 'til 9 this morning and puttered until Richard left for cardiac rehab.  I did my first basement walk in several weeks and it about killed me.  After lunch and a shower, I'm relaxing with a cup of tea and watching it rain.

Hello, everyone.

Bruce, I'm sorry you had such a tough time with the food poisoning. As awful as it is to lose your cookies (and I don't mean the computer kind) like that, you're better off getting those offenders out of your system.

Anything with ginger in it helps nausea. There's a crystalized ginger that you can buy at the health food store (other places, too?) that you can keep with you in a little baggie. I've kept it with me while traveling at times. You don't need to eat much at all and it's very portable.

Re the Golden Globes:

I only saw some of the photos, but I'll repeat what I've said in the past: Get better stylists!

When you're in the public eye it behooves you to not only dress well, but dress in a manner that will photograph well. Bolder colors work better. And, needless to say, clothes and hair should FLATTER.

Here's our new release in detail:

Kritzerland is proud to present a new world premiere limited edition release

JOSEPH ANDREWS

Composed and Conducted by John Addison

In 1963, director Tony Richardson struck gold with his film adaptation of Henry Fielding’s Tom Jones.  Beloved by critics and audiences, Jones was a huge hit, the fourth most successful film of that year and a winner of four Academy Awards – including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Score.  Fourteen years and many films later, Richardson decided to pay Henry Fielding another visit, hoping the same formula would result in another box-office winner.  This time the source was Fielding’s Joseph Andrews, the author’s first full-length published novel and, indeed, one of the earliest novels written in English.   For the film, Richardson assembled a stellar team, both behind and in front of the camera.  The cast included Peter Firth as the eponymous Joseph, Ann-Margret as Lady Booby, Michael Hordern, Jim Dale, Beryl Reid and Penelope Wilton (of Downton Abbey), along with cameos by John Gielgud, Hugh Griffith (repeating his role of Squire Western from Tom Jones) and Peggy Ashcroft.   Also along for the ride was composer John Addison, who’d won the Oscar for Best Score for Richardson’s Tom Jones, and who had an amazingly long and fruitful composer/director collaboration with Richardson, resulting in great scores for films such as The Entertainer, A Taste of Honey, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, The Charge of the Light Brigade, The Loved One, Dead Cert and The Phantom of the Opera.

Addison’s score is wonderful and melodious music – it’s pastoral, jaunty and often quirky in its instrumentation, conjuring up the world of Fielding and all of the film’s colorful characters.  Addison was a master at this kind of score and Joseph Andrews is prime John Addison.

This world-premiere release of Addison’s music for the film was taken from the mono mixdown tapes, which were in great condition in the Paramount vaults.

Joseph Andrews is limited to 1000 copies only and is priced at $19.98, plus shipping.

CDs will ship by the third week of February, but we’ve been averaging three to four weeks early in terms of shipping ahead of the official ship date.  To place an order, see the cover, or hear audio samples, just visit www.kritzerland.com.

Lovely cover art.

Morning, all!

TOD:
Don't know if it was my worst GI problem, but certainly my most memorable. While reading the haftorah (for the goyim in the audience: selection from the prophetic section of the bible, read after the weekly biblical portion) at my bar mitzvah, I suddenly got woozy. Managed to finish off the reading and the blessings afterwards, then made a beeline to make my offering to the porcelain gods.

Thank you for the translation for the goyim.

Such a tough call for a performer who has a real following.  Do you go on and not disappoint people who want so much to see them on the one hand?  But then the performer knows they're not at their best and as much as it's explained that the person is ill but performing anyway - snarky folks go on the net and say so-and-so doesn't have "it" any more, and sometimes people even surreptitiously record those performances while ill because that's how people just behave.

I don;t think that's pessimistic, just being realistic.

There are always some people who feel that have to put others down. Yes, I think it's a tough call sometimes. I've seen performances where the singer was clearly under the weather. Not their greatest show, but at what point do you say, "I'm too sick"?

when I was ten I had appendicitis  - back then it wasn't the revolving door surgery they practice these days --  and there was no lathroscopic surgery  so I spent a week in the hospital  and still wear a sizeable scar

I still remember when I peekd under my bandage at the incision for the first time - I nearly fainted - rather than the stitches my mother had told me to expect they had tried a new technique and there was a line of gleaming stainless steel clamps holding my incision together  To my  10 year old they looked to be a permanent fixture
