From DR TCB:

Quote
Supposedly you should wait until you turn 50.

My understanding is 60 is the magic age, at least it used to be.  We got our and my brother requests never getting one has his was long lasting and extremely painful.

I know getting vaccinated doesn't guaranty one won't get it but it should reduce the symptoms if you do.

TOD - Sunset Blvd... I know it's over scored, but I love that it's lush when it needs to be lush and busy when it needs to be busy.

Ah, that great orchestrator Sir Andrew!  Of course he scored it; it says so in the contract you have to sign.

If I remember correctly, his orchestrations always have said "Andy and...someone."  I just got the London cast recording of Stephen Ward and the notes say that "Stephen Ward is Andrew Lloyd Webber's first sole orchestration since his original draft of Cats in 1981."

DR George is Margo ok after that much damage to her car?

She's fine, but I haven't heard from her about her car, yet.  She was able to drive it home, but she said that it's a little wobbly now. :P

A good orchestrator friend of mine was offered a show on the condition that Andy get half the orchestration credit. I think David Cullen might have been happy to retire. He's 71 now.

I am also very fond of Tunick's orchestrations for the movie underscore of "The Fantasticks".

It took about 10 minutes to get ready to walk the dog this morning, between putting on all my layers and getting the boots on the dog.

And how does the dog feel about wearing the boots?

...

Kristin Chenoweth? I have seen her excellent (THE FANTASTICKS, STRIKE UP THE BAND) and dreadful (STAIRWAY TO PARADISE, MUSIC MAN). I think her advisors offer poor advise and that she needs to learn she's a character lady, not a leading lady.  I'd go see her; you can hear RUSALKA on CD or DVD. She might be quite wonderful in concert.

Richard and I saw her in concert with Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops in 2005 and she was, indeed, quite wonderful.  She and Maestro K had such chemistry - not like when Mom and I saw him with Bebe Neuwirth a few months later.  They didn't even look at each other.

Mr. Kunzel was probably instructed NOT to look at his Star.

The Wizard of Oz show the other night was really great.  Sierra Boggess was just wonderful singing Over the Rainbow and Norm Lewis sounded so smooth on "Home" from the Wiz.   Original cast members of the Wiz sang "Ease on Down the Road."  Roslyn Kind and a trio sang "Lullaby of Broadway," which included "you're out of the woods...." a la Bette Midler.

When I left for work this morning, the temperature was 56. It's now 32 and it's drizzling/sleeting/sleazing out there.

They have announced that word on schools will be made by 4 a.m. I pity the parents who have to wake up then.

My office has announced that if the roads look bad in the morning, we can work from home.

Oh Stephen Ward sigh.....   Good luck with that, DR George.  If Andy is the sole orchestrator, he did a decent job.  Just beware of the lyrics.  I expected more from Don Black and Christopher Hampton.
