Had a nice day. The show (How to Succeed...) was a lot of fun. The lead was very good. George Dvorsky was great and said hello after the show. Such a nice guy!

Back from a long day of judging finals. I didn't think my choice would win and she didn't - but the one I thought everyone else would give it to also didn't. The one who did is fine - it turns out the several of the other judges voted as I did in terms of high marks for the gal I thought was best. And apparently the voting was very close. Interestingly, the second-place winner, a guy, wasn't even in the top five - they had this thing where the judges could vote to "save" one eliminated person. I thought that was silly, but I can pretty much tell you it was the six other judges at my table who "saved" the guy who then placed second. Really irritating and he was nowhere near as good as the gal many of us liked, who came in third place. It was a case of six fellows wanting this guy to be in second place and it worked - not for me, though.

Here's a photo - more in tomorrow's notes - but I'm always happy when my signature Brain hand move is retained. It's the first thing I thought of going way back to the very first staged reading at LACC and it's been in all my productions since, even when Adam Cates came on to really choreograph the rest of the show.

After the show, I went to Eagan's for their deluxe cheeseburger. It was quite delish. I had my Kindle with me, so I also read and finished "Death Masks," Book Five of THE DRESDEN FILES.

Watched a wonderful film noir tonight called "The Window." Little Bobby Driscoll of Walt Disney fame plays a kid who tells tall tales all the time. Then he witnesses a murder and no one believes him. Really taut and suspenseful. Great score that borrowed a Leonard Bernstein style. And some impressive cinematography. I think I may have seen it when I was a kid, but it would have had commercials then. I don't remember it being the nail-biter it seemed tonight.

Is anyone watching the BAFTA Awards? I'm recording them, but right now I'm watching "An American in Paris." I knew that Leslie Caron was younger than Gene Kelly but I didn't realize that there was a 19 year age difference between them.

I believe I saw that movie at the theater when I was a kid.
