DR Jane, my library finally got the new Lisa Gardner book. I think they got 4 copies. So i would imagine i would be one of the first ones. It's in verification so I should know by tomorrow. For some reason a lot of new books that i've reserved/suggested are coming out now. I already have 3 library books (two due in a week and a half). So i will have to read those before Fear Nothing.

Great looking book cover art BK!

Ask BK Day:

Did you ever have the opportunity to meet and/or talk with Hugo Montenegro?

I am a big fan of what orchestrators/arrangers do and he was among the best.  To me, it's always fascinating to hear different arrangers, stylists, etc. take the same melody and each make it their own.  For example, I enjoy the numerous "takes" on "September Song" that have been recorded over the years.

Here is my friend Tina, one of our book sale chairs, being interviewed about next weekend's event:

AAUW Middletown's 58th Annual Book Sale on TV Middletown

Isn't the new venue beautiful?

It is very nice Ginny.  Is it also much larger than your old space?

Yes, it's larger and seems even more so because of the high ceiling and those big windows.

Podcast by George Feltenstein of Warner Bros., re the new Archives release of James Whale's 1936 Show Boat and the possible/eventual release of the others:

http://warnerarchive.tumblr.com/post/77839965851/warner-archive-podcast-february-25th-2014-we

I have the three movies on laserdisc.  After I got the three Star Wars movies recorded from the laserdisc copies that I'd recently purchased from eBay, I thought that I'd record to DVD the three "Show Boat" movies.  I guess I won't have to...maybe.

And I am home. ROBERTA is recorded and we will do the final edit in May. Everything went smoothly, and I think we got some good performances committed to sound.

Now I need a nap.

Congrats, Larry!!

We also have 4 eBook copies and I am now 7th on the queue.  You might very likely have a copy before I do.  Jo Nesbo's recently released book COCKROACHES that I was able to pre-request and am already 1/3 through it, my brother's Los Angeles library still doesn't have.  I would have thought a big system like that would have books sooner than our small one.  Often I get books before he does.

I currently only have the current book plus my March book for my discussion group checked out.  Maybe Fear will come in just as I finish these but I suspect that will be too soon.

DR Jane it is quite unusual for a book that came out January 7th to only be coming to the library now. I got 2 books that came out February 4th a week after that date.

I never heard of the pants being called Peggers.  I can understand I wasn't up on boys clothes when I was young, however, in the 80's I would have thought so.

Keith remembers having pants with the brand name Peggers, not that they had a special roll to the cuffs.

Peggers were tight and high-waisted and very tight at the ankles.....  DR JANE I think you added an extra "r" to the word.

I watched "Gravity" on Blu ray disc last night.

I ordered it because I thought it would be right up my alley.

It wasn't.  I'm just not cut out for edge-of-my-seat suspence and histrionics.

Fast-forwarded through some of it.  Beautiful photography, though.

I reported for jury duty this morning.  Seven group numbers were told to report.

Several hundred of us jammed the jury assembly room.

Around 10 a.m., 35 names were called to report to a courtroom.

Around 10:30 a.m. another 35 (or so) names were called to report to a different courtroom.

We had been told four jury pools would be called before 5 p.m.

We waited patiently.  Around 11 a.m., a judge came in and told us we were excused...two trials they had hoped to start today had been delayed by two weeks.  We are free from jury duty for the next year.

Yippee-yay-ki-oh!

That's what I was wondering.  What the HELL?  At any rate, news of something going kaput like that is always sad, and I'm sorry to hear it.

I have corrected that-thanks.  It is funny that I noticed a woman who was preggers showed up when I googled photos of peggers.

The RED GOLD cover art is gorgeous.  I'm a sucker for a "vintage" deep-color palette, and what a great design overall.

I am going to check if our water has heated up yet.  I also need to clean the bathtub that I was told to run the water in first, the brown yucky water that initially came out.  A sink would have been easier to clean.  Boy, was it loud with all the air in the tanks.
