Well, you've read the notes, the notes were signed, and now it is time for you to post until the signed cows come home.

Today, I have to get up early to help clear out the storage unit that Theater Artists Olympia (TAO) has been renting for many years.  We can finally stop paying every month for the storage.  TAO's new performing space, The Midnight Sun, has a little storage, and several people have offered to store stuff in their own garages.  We can also rent a U-Haul van from the storage place, so that'll be VERY convenient.

See you at the signing with the CAKE EATERS.  My most memorable signing was 1) getting Sterling Holloway to sign his album, not book.  2) Jamie lee Curtis signing my kids' books.  She is terrific, real, down to earth.

I think I have only ever been to one book signing. It was with David Sedaris, and he was just as funny and charming and quirky in person as you'd imagine from reading his work.

I don't think I have ever been to a real book signing.....we have had a few authors come in to the bookstore....but their books are not anything I am interested in reading, although I always buy one.

Good morning, all.

I will be E&T today, finishing up at the most hellish of the three days of auditions.  Back early evening.

Wish I could say I'll see y'all later at the signing!  VIBES it is a fun and rewarding time.

TOD

I think I've only been to maybe half a dozen actual book signings.

I'm not just saying this for obvious reasons, but by far the most enjoyable and forever memorable is BK's "Album..." signing in NYC in June 2012.  Not only was it my first chance to finally meet BK and DRs Elmore, Ben, FJL, and others in person for the first time, but it was such a nicely planned event overall.  That will always stand as a very important day.

Well, this is it.  The time is nigh.  Off to the execution.

Oh wait.  It's not an execution.  But I think it would be nicer if it were.

Good morning, all! Another night of truly bizarre dreams: a subway ride with Liz Callaway where I missed my exit, working a concert in some dreadful cafeteria with a Big Name (was it Patti Lupone? I don't remember now). I still can't tell if my throat is sore from allergies or another cold.

So, I'm off to Toyland with much to accomplish there. Then back here for more work on IRMA LA DOUCE.

DR Cillaliz, happy belated birthday to you r mom! You had a busy day yesterday.

DR Dan M, I hope the progress continues to be progress

TOD:

The first book signing I ever went to was in Seattle.  It was Richard Nixon, signing his new book, SIX CRISES.

Met some great writers for a brief moment at book signings, including Horton Foote, Michael Connelly and Margaret Atwood.

I think my most favorite, though, was for Terry McMillan. She had filled the Majestic Theater here, and because there was so many people, she was going to sign only one book a person. I had brought my first edition hardback copy of her first novel, Mama, which didn't really sell because she was an unknown at the time. She was surprised to see it. Looked it over, asked me where I had gotten it and if I had the dust jacket (which I had left at home to keep protected). She said something about not having seen that in hardback for years, which made me think she didn't have a copy. And I guess signing it for a white guy was also different for her.

Well, the local production of Catch Me If You Can was a mixed bag. The lead male was only a double threat, nice actor, fine voice, but every time he danced -- and he danced a lot -- you just wished that he wasn't front stage and center.

The show is a grab bag, some good, some meh and it never really seemed to find its heart. I think the script was largely to blame. Though not all of the score was top drawer, the audience seemed to really enjoy the songs -- and the band assembled was really good.

The Lutheran jokes landed.

What surprised me most was how small the part really is for the FBI agent. Norbert Leo Butz must have been amazing in the role to have nabbed a Tony for lead actor. Outside of the first scene, the character's MIA for much of the first hour.
