TOD - My first book signing was when my sister took me to the downtown Detroit J. L. Hudson store to meet Kay Thompson and have her autograph my copy of ELOISE.  I was probably about 7 and it started me down the road of attending many, many readings/signings.  Some of my favorites have been Susan Stamberg, David Pogue, Amy Tan, Mary Doria Russell, Ellen Goodman, and Brian Lamb (founder of C-Span).

Great story. Wish I had met Kay Thompson, Dr. Seuss or any of the others who wrote children's books when I was a kid.

I just watched the most amazing program on NATURE, "My Bionic Pet," about prosthetics for animals, from two back legs for a border collie named Driftwood and a leg for a pony named Molly to a beak for a swan and a tail for an alligator. It was heartbreaking but so wpnderful.

Sounds wonderful, and I'm so glad they can help animals this way now.  But I don't think I could tackle the heartbreaking aspects of that.

And yes, those rumors that have been circulating all around the board are true.  Here it is, at last, from the horse's mouth:

I am back.  The auditions are over.

They'll have callbacks, and desperate attempts to fill the roles (lousiest turnout ever for this bunch), but this was all I can do for them.  I am:  done.

Thanks all for the birthday greetings for mom.  She really did have a good day and is still happy about it.  I found out that they announced her birthday before the concert last night. My brother said everyone knows her because they are always there in the second row. They had dinner before the show and drinks afterwards.  She is still feeling happy about it today.  I don't think she expected to get as much attention as she got yesterday and it really made her shine.

TOD: Only been to a couple.  Seeing Rupert for the first time in 28 years at one of his signings was definitely the best.  Others are really just getting an autograph or it's someone I know and feel like I should go.

Not that I haven't enjoyed them, just nothing to write home about.  I haven't been to one of BK's or my answer would likely be different :)

I think I'm going to call and cancel going to War Horse and see if there is someone who may want my ticket.   Besides the fact that the route is through an area that is going to be rain, snow, sleet and ice, I am really exhausted from the move, doing things for my mom and trying to get my home chores done.  I'm just pooped out.  I'm afraid if I don't stay home and take some down time, I'm going to get sick again.

And I still have to do laundry and other chores that I just can't get the energy to do right now.

Almost time for my Britcoms. I have to be up early tomorrow to accomplish some work and remove everything from the bathroom. Life will be hell for the next couple of days.

TOD:  Lily Tomlin.  I said to her:  "thanks for 30 years of laughs." She thought about it and said, "oh, it has been that long, hasn't it?"

Also went to a book signing done by President Jimmy Carter.  They really rushed everyone through so all I could do was thank him.

Last but not least, I went to a book signing of our own BK.  He read a little from his book and did Q&A.  Then we all went to Joe Allen.  It was a lot of fun!

It's kind of  warm so I put the A/C on but it's not working too well. I guess I'll have to have it looked at.

Tomorrow is Palm Sunday. The church where I sing is using eco-palms. These are apparently environmentally sustainable and fairly traded.

There are a LOT of local cable channels here devoted solely to religious programming.

Some of the programs aired are pretty far out there. Like they could have been created by the cast and writers of Saturday Night Live.

The signing was wonderful - I think the most folks we've ever had - over thirty.  Sold books, I read a little, answered questions and most importantly everyone had CAKE.  Some of the attendees were our very own RYacko, our very own Mark of Amy and Mark, Jenna, Sami, Brennley, Oliviana and two of Oliviana's friends (the young folks - great to have them all there), Sami's mom, Lanny Meyers, cousins Dee Dee and Alan and neighbor Tony Slide, Joanna Erdos, Tina Saddington, our very own Nick Redman, our Li'l Abner costume designer and her son, several others from LACC including our Mammy Yokum and Evil Eye Fleagle, Brennley's mom and dad and I know I'm forgetting five or six others.

After, several of us went to the Cheesecake Factory, where I had a new menu item - fried catfish - out of this world - I passed on the mashed potatoes.
