TOD:

The only book signing I ever went to was for A cook book from local talk show hosts in Buffalo.

I'm up, barely.  And if I hadn't had to GET up I would be over at the neighbors having it out - eight o'clock and they're out there with the kid being robust and annoying.

And these allergies are not doing wonders for my voice, which is, at the moment, very hoarse.

Heading back to Orchestra Hall for another concert. This is the band and orchestra of St. Olaf College.

Will Betty White be there?

I bought two Parisian cakes, did some banking, put gas in the motor car, and I'm now home until I shall be on my way to the signing.

For our classic TV folks: In Progress is the Root of All Evil, there's a lyric that says "I plan to get in touch with Bob Montgomery next week" - I need another name that is even a little more recognizable than that - should be a TV series guy with the same amount of syllables - that's the hard part - if syllables didn't matter then Robert Young would be the kind of TV series personality actor we'd want - it's just that no one today knows who Robert Montgomery was - whereas Robert Young's Father Knows Best is still remembered.  The name has to be one of the mid to late 1950s.

Okay, I'm just gonna say it - this errant and truant malarky is getting EPIC and I should think we'll want to stop it now.  Otherwise, there will be a bitch-slapping to be reckoned with that will reverberate around the world and last for a month of Sundays.

I was out looking for butterflies this morning with Wae-Ling and the other folks. She and I left early because she won some tickets to a ball game this afternoon and I had to get her home in time for that.

Wae-Ling found a dying butterfly, which she carried very carefully out of the canyon. We don't collect live butterflies, but a dead/dying one was ok to bring back.

TOD: I didn't go because I was out of town, but last week David Sibley, who wrote the whole series of Sibley's Field Guide to North American Birds, was in town doing a book signing. I would have gone.

Turns out one of the movies in the film noir set I picked up at the library, Crime in the Streets, is a Don Siegel flick with a Franz Waxman jazz score. John Cassavetes' first movie with Sal Mineo and James Whitmore. Kinda of like a non-musical West Side Story.

Saturday afternoon greetings!  Day 1 of the conference is history and it's had its moments.  I was briefly in the spotlight, introducing the fabulous morning keynote speaker.  There's now a break before the cocktail hour and awards banquet.  Middletown is winning one award that I know of, but I think it will be a surprise to the other members who are here.

Thanks to all those who sent me sleep vibes. During the night--while I wasn't sleeping--one of the culprits of this insomnia occurred to me and I'm now addressing it.

I do have chills today, though. But I can deal with viruses. I'm curled up on the sofa, all bundled up. I've put a couple days next week aside for a staycation. I hope nothing pops up to intervene.

DR Dan, doubling your white blood cell count in two weeks sounds impressive to me. I understand your impatience in wanting to be fully recovered right now, but your body is doing all it can.

Vibes for your steady recovery!

Cilla, I enjoyed seeing the photo of your mother. You have her smile, don't you? (That's an opening for several jokes, but you know what I mean.)
