Tomorrow is Palm Sunday. The church where I sing is using eco-palms. These are apparently environmentally sustainable and fairly traded.

We just go outside and cut fronds off the trees. For free.

I passed on the mashed potatoes.

What an insane concept.      :)

Had an amazingly good dinner with friends at a new restaurant that specializes in cured meats and charcuterie. The owner is a cancer survivor, so he named the place Cured.

We had a bunch of small plates of things like sausage gumbo, fried chicken livers, fried oysters and corned beef tongue. Great flavors.

I made the mistake of ordering a pork cheek poutine with strands of pork meat and cheese curds mixed with fries and gravy. It tasted great but the size of the dish was big enough for the table.

And my friend Bonnie ordered the pork shank. It was 2 pounds of amazing pork meat with the best brussels sprouts and fried kale on the side. It was twice the size of the poutine.

So, there are leftovers.

All was wonderful except for one of the desserts. Do not deconstruct carrot cake. It was a mistake, big mistake.

Watching the beginning of Spike Lee's 25th Hour. I think this may be my favorite of his movies, outside of Crooklyn.

Forgot how good Philip Seymour Hoffman was in this.

Got notes from my first reader and spent part of the day reworking sections of the paper.

Now, my sister has turned in her notes, so that's another set to work on.

But I only have a few weeks to finish it and the project, which I didn't want to do today.

Found out that my nephew won the Governor's Award for the Arts today for his French horn playing. It includes a three-week summer intensive as well as full tuition to a couple of colleges in Kentucky if he wants to go there.
