I detect a pattern here...

Yes, you are most perceptive.  In a round about, yet chock full of musicality, way, this has all been preamble to a question to BK on this, the birthday of Mr. Mancini:

Would you, could you, ever release a full version of Henry Mancini's TWO FOR THE ROAD?

If I haven't already implied, I do like the movie TWO FOR THE ROAD, not just for the music.

I think that Weather Bug may be out of service.  It says the current temperature in Tacoma is -21 degrees!

Without DR George it's not official, but methinks I have achieved a personal millstone a few posts ago.

You're welcome DR Jrand.  It was one of the movies in which everything fell together just right and the music just ties it all up in a great big bow.

How the camera never lie and add 10-30 pounds? It seems to do both in my case.

I am just as curious. And while pondering this question I ate 2 cake donuts with chocolate frosting and colorful sprinkles.

Intrada, another specialty label (soundtracks), had the rights to the "Two for the Road" original soundtrack recording several years back (maybe as many as 10 years ago) but the masters could not be found.  The RCA album was a re-recording, so they could have issued the original recording without licensing through RCA.

I used to have a collection of all the cover versions of another song I really like, SEPTEMBER SONG, which has nothing whatsoever to do with Maestro Mancini, except that it is a finely crafted song.  Here it is performed by the inimitable Lotte Lenya:

One of the most idiosyncratic versions of SEPTEMBER SONG as recorded by Lou Reed:

A very, very strange 1970s confluence brought the weird pairing of Sinatra and John Denver on this version of SEPTEMBER SONG.  I like John Denver, but when he begins his part, I can't help but be reminded of Kermit the Frog singing "Rainbow Connection", which of course does not bode well for the rest of this duo [mercifully it's less than half of Lou Reed's version, which is (good) weird for very different reasons]:

To recover from that strange Sinatra/Denver duo, here's a younger John Williams and the Boston Pops with the divine Miss Sarah Vaughn and Wynton Marsalis (looks to be from the 1980s):

As long as we're requesting soundtracks, I always thought it was a shame that Dave Grusin's score for ON GOLDEN POND was never released on CD.

As I leave my self-imposed theme arc of the day, I would be remiss not to include the Great Schnozzola, Jimmy Durante, and his version of SEPTEMBER SONG:

And don't forget...Angelica Huston performed SEPTEMBER SONG on "Smash."

The song was, of course, introduced by her grandfather, Walter Huston. :)

I'm still waiting to see if my amended income tax return was received.

It's been received again!  Now, will it be accepted??  That's the question.

Yes, that was missed, but don't worry...I'll keep an eye out for the really important 4-digit "1000" milestone/millstone/gallstone/Gladstone/Goldstone!

Back from a patty melt and picking up one package.  Shall now be on my way to LACC.  That final moon color is just like Red Gold, the book that so few have actually finished or even begun to read.

Been listening to the 1998 Varese release "Classic TV Game Show Themes" and realized how many of the well-known themes were written by Robert Israel.  It might even be fun to hear someone do a cover version of the theme to "To Tell The Truth" which has some far-out late 1969 lyrics. ;)
