George, you said you bought your car through Costco. Did you buy it new or used? Do you know approximately how much you saved and would you tell us?

I've been out, made a trip to the market, and now i am home. There's little to report today. I think this week, maybe on Wednesday, I will buy myself a new pair of shoes. I think I need to check out Toyland on Tuesday and start packing up my things.

Did I ever tell this story?

Many years ago I was buying a new Honda. I brought along a friend who can be quite shrewd. But instead of helping he just sat there, engrossed in a magazine! I really liked the gray one, but they'd have to order it and it'd take about 6 weeks. They had a blue one, equipped the way I wanted it, on the lot. A good second choice. I knew they wanted me to buy it and NOT wait the 6 weeks. I kept saying, "but I really like the gray one." I saved $2500 by buying the blue one--but not right away.

I have now replaced my wireless keyboard. I have no idea why the old one died, except it was a cheap model.  I already like the feel of this one better than the old one.

Jeanne, I sometimes wonder if just by having someone tag along with you when you make a large purchase (even someone just reading a magazine) can actually get you better treatment.

Glad you were able to get out and purchase the new keyboard, Tom. May it give you years of good use.

There will be photos.

I really dislike the choreography in the Carousel movie....whew....Rod Alexander.

He certainly worked all the time, God knows why. But then, the whole film of CAROUSEL is so misguided it's pathetic.

The movie is certainly not perfect, but isn't "pathetic" going a bit too far?

I love the film version of CAROUSEL!

I think so. In those days, I felt rather intimidated by the whole car purchase/dealer thing. I needed some moral support. But I expected more than I got! It actually was a good lesson in negotiating for me. All I did was take one fact, that I'd rather have the gray one, and repeat that statement. Some years later a neighbor had the same car, but in gray!! Ugh! I'd just remind myself how much I'd saved.

And the dealer I saw on Friday still has "my" car on their website. I wonder if they sold the BMW. I bet they did. It was a very good deal.

Gee, I hope Jane comes here and posts her pastry photographs, too - would be a crying shame to only share them on Facebook where they are not seen by nearly as many as here.  Also, one of her friends posted about the pastry and from whence it came: Do they make gluten-free?  What is this with gluten-free?  Just another irritating fad that will be forgotten in six months to a year.  I do understand that for some it is a real thing, but the other 90% who've jumped on that bandwagon are doing it just because it's a fad.  You mark my words when the gluten-free business is gone a year from now.  The best part is when these faddists say "Oh, I feel so much better eating gluten-free."  Sure you do.  Until the next craze.  Like people who used to do Atkins - "I feel so much better doing Atkins."  Sure you do.  I'm here to tell you as someone who was stupid enough to try Atkins, I felt soooo much worse.

DR Cillaliz - sorry that you and your family are going through such a difficult time. Continued thoughts your way!

thanks. Bob died this morning.  I don't know what they are doing as far as a service. My brother said he'd let me know.  He said they had come to terms with everything over the past few days.  My guess is they are talking to family and trying to get some rest.

Really? It could have been so much better although the nitial casting of Frank Sinatra was really moronic.

Thanks DR Elmore it was very rewarding to have her hard work pay off. This is her first year on the swim team. Some of the other kids have done it for 3 or 4 years. I also did not realize until last week but her team has the best ten and under swim team in the province. Plus she was so happy to win. She told me today that she looked up at the scoreboard and saw #1 by her name. She said it was a great 41 seconds.

Good evening, all, from Morgantown, WV.

Wow, it's actually kind of hot.  Guess it is at home, too, though.  I'm cooling down here in the Super 8, and will shower soon and head out to find me some food and drink.

I am glad I wear a helmet while biking. I kept having to hold onto my brakes because a lot of people do crazy things.

One man had his baby walking across the path. Granted this was near the park. But that is what the huge field of grass is for. And maybe if you see a bike GRAB YOUR BABY?!?!

Didn't try going to that bookstore today.  I need to devote a whole day to that LI'L trip.  Instead, I took a nice long detour through Lancaster County (Amish country), which I hadn't been to in years, and it was just as gorgeous as ever.  Will definitely go back over there soon for a meal or three.

BK, that was an exceptionally nice selection of pictures.  Great shots in general, but everyone really looks good in them, too.

Then on the bike path on the side of the street there is the road on one side of the bike path and the side walk on the  other side. I was riding and an old couple were power walking on the side walk. The lady starts to jog onto the bike path right as I am about to pass her. And of course she does not torn her head first to look. I could not really swerve as it is a fairly busy street.
