Luckily I yelled "watch out" while moving a little. She was fast enough to jump on the side walk. She did thank me for yelling out. Although she was close to getting hit. She jumped out unfortunately at the wrong time.  If I had been passing a kid I would have had my hands ready on the brakes. But I would expect anyone else to look before walking onto a bike path.

We've had rain and thunderstorms all day.  It is so nice to see the rain, we need it so badly.   But when they said we could get hail, I took all the pots of flowers I've gotten in the past couple weeks and either put them in my entryway or the garage.   I think I could probably put them back now, but better wait for the weather report

Jennifer, out here it is the mountain bikes. I couldn't count the number of times a mountain bike has nearly taken me out on the trails. They are supposed to yield to hikers, but they don't.

Sunday evening greetings!  Richard and I went to Lima today for church, followed by a visit to a parishioner in her new assisted living apartment.  We went to Panera for lunch and I drove home while Richard napped.

When we got home today Rob and Mary Linda were here working on his old room, so I guess it's time to tell y'all why - they are moving into the upstairs of our house next month.

Our house is a large Cape Cod with 2 bedrooms and a full bath on the main floor, along with the living/dining room, kitchen, family room and attached garage.  The upstairs is 2 big rooms and a full bath and Richard and I rarely go up there - we live on the main floor like a ranch house.  With Rob looking at PA (physician assistant) school a year from now, they're going to try to take a chunk out of her student loan debt before taking on his.

So, Rob has been working on his old room, which will be their bedroom, and Richard and I have tackled the other room, which will be their living room.  We decided today to do a little sprucing up in the bathroom by installing a new sink/vanity from IKEA and a new floor.

The room Richard and I are cleaning out has been our "catch-all" for about 20 years.  I have shredded tons of paper, including cancelled checks - remember when we used to get those? - from before we were married and the worksheets my students did when I taught library skills in the late 80s/early90s.  The AAUW garage sale is getting another load (or 2) this week.

Gee, I hope Jane comes here and posts her pastry photographs, too - would be a crying shame to only share them on Facebook where they are not seen by nearly as many as here.  Also, one of her friends posted about the pastry and from whence it came: Do they make gluten-free?  What is this with gluten-free?  Just another irritating fad that will be forgotten in six months to a year.  I do understand that for some it is a real thing, but the other 90% who've jumped on that bandwagon are doing it just because it's a fad.  You mark my words when the gluten-free business is gone a year from now.  The best part is when these faddists say "Oh, I feel so much better eating gluten-free."  Sure you do.  Until the next craze.  Like people who used to do Atkins - "I feel so much better doing Atkins."  Sure you do.  I'm here to tell you as someone who was stupid enough to try Atkins, I felt soooo much worse.

Don't be so fast to put gluten-free down.  It's no fad.

I've been gluten-free for almost 2 years and it does make a difference.

DR Cillaliz - sorry that you and your family are going through such a difficult time. Continued thoughts your way!

thanks. Bob died this morning.  I don't know what they are doing as far as a service. My brother said he'd let me know.  He said they had come to terms with everything over the past few days.  My guess is they are talking to family and trying to get some rest.

I wish them all well.

Thanks.

Sincere condolences.

The lighting man told me Friday evening that he would not be there at the Open House Today.  I told him that was fine, we wouldn't be using lights anyway.  We just planned to use the work lights for the songs we presented.

Before the event started, I was sitting in the theatre talking to Sky Masterson who had been helping him with the lighting.  I asked Sky why they were set up with three for backlighting and one in front and told him what I thought about it.  Sky was talking a bit, and I told him I still didn't understand, it wasn't working for me.

NOW I want you to remember the movie A FACE IN THE CROWD and what happened at the end.

Yes, the choir mikes were on in the house, and Mr Lighting Man had indeed decided to come to the Open House and was sitting back in the dressing room listening to everything I said.

So - sometimes being an ass is its own reward.....he seemed to be fairly good-natured about it, but I should never have been speaking that way, if I wouldn't say it to his face, it shouldn't say it at all....and I felt very SMALL all afternoon.

STOP THE PRESSES!

This evening I bought two 12-packs of Vernors at the supermarket near the motel I'm staying in.  Delighted and thrilled to find them in WV.  Those were the last two on the shelf tonight.  Maybe I'll stop in tomorrow to check again before leaving town.

I really dislike the choreography in the Carousel movie....whew....Rod Alexander.

He certainly worked all the time, God knows why. But then, the whole film of CAROUSEL is so misguided it's pathetic.

The movie is certainly not perfect, but isn't "pathetic" going a bit too far?

I love the film version of CAROUSEL!

Really? It could have been so much better although the nitial casting of Frank Sinatra was really moronic.

I've never been able to watch the movie all the way through. Liked the TV version with Nathan Gunn.
