Well, you've read the notes, the notes were melancholy, and now it is time for you to post until the melancholy cows come home.

Today will be a day.  Yesterday was Father's Day and today is my mother's birthday!  My sister and I got her a meat grinder attachment for her KitchenAid mixer (it's what she specifically wanted) and we're all going out to dinner at a local restaurant called Falls Terrace, which overlooks the Tumwater falls.  I haven't been there in a while, but they always have good food...if a bit pricy...for me. ;)

TOD:  The Skinny Cow clusters are a really nice snack, and there must be something not-good-for-you in them because they don't remotely taste diet.

I've wondered if the only thing low-cal about Skinny Cow is the portion control.

Good morning, all! I have nothing to report. I've got physical therapy at 10:15, and I hope to see my super before I head out. I would rather go back to bed.

I have nothing else to report this morning.

The Comden/Green cabaret program was awesome. So much comic material there.

Monday morning greetings!  We've closed up the house and turned on the air conditioning because it's supposed to be hot and humid all week  :P

What I thought was going to be an at-home day will now be interrupted by my 2pm appointment with our family doctor to have him remove a wood splinter from my finger.  I got it Saturday during some drawer cleaning and rearranging and cannot get it out myself.  One of our Lima parishioners, who does a lot of woodworking, offered to remove it for me yesterday at church, but I was chicken.

I'm looking forward to watching the final episode of FARGO tomorrow.

This 10-episode series has been one of the best shows I've ever seen on television.

TOD - I try not to think about snack foods too much these days.  I do eat unsalted cashews and unsalted roasted almonds, but I'd rather have tortilla chips and salsa or Ruffles potato chips with sour cream.

DR Ginny, I almost wish we were getting that hot and humid spell.  I don't often use such language, but it's been way too cool here for this time of year.  We've only achieved low 80s on a few days, and my AC has yet to be turned on.  That having been said, I'm hosing the compressor down real well today (been putting it off) because it looks like I could be using it some tomorrow and Wednesday if we get into the mid-80s.  I came very close to it on a couple of those days recently, so it really is time to enjoy it some.

I guess I'm exaggerating a little bit because June can often be cool here.  I love the four seasons, but I like each of them to be solid, with a summer that's as notable as the damned winter.  If that makes any sense.

DR ChasSmith, we often use the air conditioning as much for the humidity as the heat.

TOD

Snacks, for me, too easily become whole meals.  I've been making a concerted effort to wean myself off of that kind of binge eating lately, because I'd let it get completely out of control over the past year.  The hardest part is not "snacking" as I sit and watch movies, and I'm working on that, too.

But that doesn't answer the question, so...  I guess any number of things, but in particular, good quality tortilla chips with salsa and/or guacamole, good salt-and-pepper potato chips, and peanut butter-filled pretzels.  That more or less covers the chip type of snack, but certain kinds of sandwiches are another downfall.  And again, especially when watching the TV or reading.  (I should do much more reading than I've been doing lately, but the eating while reading thing has been a staple with me for many, many years.  Another pitfall.)
