Monday morning greetings!  We've closed up the house and turned on the air conditioning because it's supposed to be hot and humid all week  :P

What I thought was going to be an at-home day will now be interrupted by my 2pm appointment with our family doctor to have him remove a wood splinter from my finger.  I got it Saturday during some drawer cleaning and rearranging and cannot get it out myself.  One of our Lima parishioners, who does a lot of woodworking, offered to remove it for me yesterday at church, but I was chicken.

Silly, you should have let him do it.

Given the blood thinners I take, I really wanted some medical supervision.  My doctor did exactly what Mr. W offered to do, but the doctor numbed it first.  Afterwards, when I said something about the blood thinners, he said, "NOW you remind me!"

Anyway, it's gone and I will survive.

I also love Sally Mayes' version...especially the machine gun and "Joe"-falling-down-the-stairs sound effects. :D

An arrest in the Phoenix priest murder case.

http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/phoenix/2014/06/16/phoenix-priest-murder-arrest-abrk/10573761/

I'm glad the guy is off the streets and hope he stays off of them.  If I'm reading the story correctly, had the second priest not had a gun the first priest would not have died. :(

The one time I really saw the bats in Austin was from a boat in the middle of the lake fairly near the bridge under which they spend the day. So, they swooped out over us at dusk. A treasured moment.

So, when you come to Austin, and you should come to Austin, get yourself on a boat.

Thanks for that tip.  I was reading the bridge was just as good a place.  If I ever get there I will try to go on the boat.

LOL  I'm glad the removal went well.  Vibes it doesn't get infected!

Thanks, DR John G. I seriously considered putting that one up, but then I couldn't remember who liked Ms. Chenoweth, and who detested her.    So I opted for avoidance.      :)

I think Kristin did that song when Richard and I saw her with Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops.

I don't think anyone detests Kristin; I think she's overrated, and people think she's a leading lady. She's a character woman

I don't detest her and loved working with her the two times I did.  But she is not that person anymore, and there is something really off-putting about her - and whatever she's done to herself isn't pleasing, at least to me.

I hope her Lily Garland is half as good I think it could be, and I'd love to hear her sing the role. I think she can do some daffy comedy very well. I thought her Apple Tree, however, was not funny at all.

And I agree with you, DR John G. - she should be able to sing the heck out of that role.
