Don't fight it, DR Elmore - it's not worth it.

LOL, DR MBarnum!  This was back in my John Molloy Dress for Success days when I was trying to look credible as a young, female administrator.  The only thing missing is the floppy bow tie.

And, thanks!

Here is today's Throwback Thursday photo.  I'm on the right, chatting with James Roosevelt, Eleanor and Franklin's eldest son, and my friends Stefanie and Jenny:

That's a great picture, Ginny!

TOD - when I was approaching drinking age my Dad said, "If you're going to drink, do it right," and introduced me to the simplicity of Scotch and soda.  That remains my mixed drink of choice, along with an occasional Margarita, Manhattan, or one of our friend Doug's Cosmos.  I like most wine and a few swallows of beer once in a while.  All that said, I am not a frequent drinker and less now that I take several heart meds.

Dad also taught Mom to drink Scotch, a habit that I think has not done her any favors.  I blame her severe osteoporosis and, maybe, her macular degeneration in part on 70 or so years of what I consider heavy alcohol consumption.

That's sad.  And she still likes her Scotch now and then, does she not?

Never pass up the opportunity to have a photo taken with someone well known!!!  Lesson learned.

Oh, yes, DR ChasSmith, Mom has Scotch every night and I have to admit that I'm her enabler.  In fact, one of the reasons she's dragging her feet over moving to assisted living is that she's afraid they'll take it away from her.

Back from a meatless Cobb salad and a bagel and picking up a couple of packages.  I guess I am seeing a show this evening but it's not too long from what I understand so I should be home by ten-thirty.  Listening to Ormandy conducting Prokofiev - several symphonies and some of the other popular pieces he wrote.  I really love this music and these performances.

Last night, I got out of tap class and needed an ice cream, so I headed for the Sonic behind the studio. When I got to the window to pay, the clerk told me that the car ahead of me had picked up my tab. That was really nice of the driver.

I admit I have never put soda into my scotch but to me it seems it would ruin it.  I actually shiver at the thought of it.  Maybe the difference is I would be ruining good scotch were an average scotch is used with soda ;)

I'm sorry about your mother's heavy drinking.

Listening to The Love of Three Oranges - great piece, but I have no love for three or even one orange.  I just do not like oranges.

DR Jane, by soda I mean plain club soda, not something like ginger ale or 7-Up.  Scotch 'n' soda is very good for indigestion.

And there's a Kingston Trio song with that title.
