Getting excited about my trip to LA!  Fortunately, I'll be staying with friends in Pasadena, who live close to the Playhouse.

I haven't been in Pasadena since shortly after Bryan was born.

It just dawned on me that today I'm visiting the oldest person I know (Mom, 96) and the youngest (Iris, almost 4 weeks).

;D

A baby should cheer you up after your visit with your mother.

I certainly hope so, DR Jane, because I found in Mom's refrigerator the green (Jello) eggs and ham that I'd taken her last Saturday - untouched.  And most of the time I was there she seemed to think I was my sister...

That hurts DR Ginny.  As for the untouched food.....I thought there are people checking on her.

Yes, but the resident or her family are responsible for the refrigerator.

I thought they might be responsible for making sure she is eating.

Yes, but they see that she eats the food they provide.  Her little refrigerator is optional and just for "extras."

OK, they are off the hook for that ;)

Might there be someone special who works there that will remind your mother of treats?  On the other hand, maybe you don't want to leave food that will spoil.  Just take a meal when you are going to eat with her, or at least sit with her while she eats.

Show vibes to BK, DR George, DR JRand, and anyone else performing or rehearsing this weekend. (I think Singdaw must be in that category.)

And then, suddenly Fed Ex showed up and carted off the eight cartons! I am pretty much out of Toyland, and rather happy about it.

Yay, they showed up! Glad you're happy about it.

Jane, do you know the person who did the inspection? Some inspectors are poorly qualified--so much so that I've wondered if they're on the take. The inspection for my last home in Alexandria was so far off as to be laughable. For instance,

The report said there was a puddle under the kitchen sink. It was actually dry as a bone, and, as my handyman, Marvelous Matt, pointed out, if there HAD been water at any time there'd be water marks.

The report said that the furnace filter needed to be replaced. The house did not have a furnace. It had a boiler and radiators, neither of which take filters. I think the inspector was referring to the AC unit, but don't you think he'd know the difference between a furnace and an AC?

The whole report was full of stuff like that. Not only was it unfair to me, the seller, but it was unfair to the buyers, as well, as it undermined their confidence in a meticulously restored historic home.

I never learned why the inspector's problem was--totally unqualified, on the take, whatever. The sale went through and I tried to put the ugliness of the this and the obnoxious buyers behind me. But I learned not to necessarily believe an inspection report.

DR Elmore, I was thinking about you and all your neighbor problems just the other day. I don't know how you coped. Whatever happened with the young woman with the dog? Is she still there? I haven't heard you mention noise lately.

DR Jeanne, Keith picked up on a few things the inspector missed, however, the inspector caught a number of things that are just wrong.  A small example.....there is a gas cooktop and the shut off valve for the gas has been dry-walled over.  It is more an accumulation of problems which indicate the property has not been cared for.  We have since learned the owner never lived there and used it as a rental.

It is a bit mind boggling that the owner did not have everything checked and fixed before putting it on the market.  We were aware of a few obvious problems and after the inspection we are wondering what can't be seen.

Got a question for DR George

In replacing the stolen CDs do you prefer the physical CD as opposed to a digital download?
