The twenty-something couple next door, AKA the Noisy Neighbors, had another one of their little parties last night. It didn't break up until 1 am. For a year or so they were actually relatively quiet, but about three months ago started having friends over again. The last time I spoke to them it got rather heated and I don't wish to put myself at risk. I almost called the cops, but was concerned that that would wake half the neighborhood. I will talk to the building manager, but she does little. So, only six hours sleep at most and I am not a happy camper.

We should get together. I have a similar problem with the tenants in the apt. above mine. I call them Dracula and his bride. I don't know what their connection really is, except parties and booze. She's always holding the notorious plastic red cup used at parties. I've called the sheriff several times and have complained to the apartment manager, which they've subsequently kept my written complaints on file and have spoken with the tenants. Unfortunately, the tenants are maybe 20 and act stupidly, not having any consideration for neighbors. They really are out-of-place here because it is generally very quiet here. I need quiet for resting and sleep during my recovery and the upcoming surgery. I know that I was once 20 and did stupid things, but I would never be rude like the tenants and impose myself on others. They act as if they are the only ones living here and have to learn the hard way I guess. Probably were never told when growing up that they ever did any wrong and lacked any discipline.

I'm sorry. I didn't know what my schedule was going to be. I should have said something earlier.

Thanks Laura. Maybe I could take a rain check for another time. They often invite me just to stay for a week. My friend is waiting for the probate on her mom's estate. Unfortunately her nearly 80 year old brother has been making threats that he will contest the will. I have seen the papers, not that I'm a lawyer, but I don't see anyway for him to prevail. But my friend has been bullied by this brother all their lives, so I don't blame her for feeling this way.

Good vibes for all who may need them!

I would have been earlier with my vibes and wishes, but my computer was acting a bit funky and it needed a thorough scan. Found a lot of stuff that needed to be quarantined and deleted according to the program.

I forgot to add. If your schedule would allow a rain check for another time. :)

It's fairly easy for me to get to Sky Harbor via Arizona Shuttle, but from Phoenix to Parker, that's a whole other set of woes.

Two questions:

1) How in the world did anyone green light the show "Small Wonder" which is on AntennaTV? It's barely entertaining. Even Alice Ghostley can't save it.

2) Were Alice Ghostley and Paul Lynde mimicking each other? Was it just a coincidence? They had the same physical and vocal mannerisms. Yes, I think they were separate people, and entertaining in their own way.

Well great, DR Dan M!

Maybe you can single-handedly clean up the morass that is the current state of broadcast television!

But it's very exciting, in any case.

DR Dan M, I tried talking to the Noisy Neighbors repeatedly to no avail. I believe the He feels that he should be able to do whatever he likes and no one has the right to tell him otherwise. He seems to have a pretty hard shell. However, when the manager threatened to evict them he seemed visibly shaken. That surprised me. If one were to ask the question: is there any way to get through to inconsiderate young idiots, I'd say no--not at least by being nice or trying to reason with them. The only way that I've seen is to hit them where it hurts, ie., threaten eviction.

Getting management on your side is the other factor. It's not easy to evict in California. California law tends to side with the tenant and building owners must build a case, which takes time and effort. In my situation, I think the amount of time and effort already expended by the manager is less than what it would take to evict. The scale has finally tipped in my favor. We're all tired of dealing with these people.

I think it's promising that your management is keeping written complaints. Have others lodged complaints, too? Do you know if noise is the only issue or if they're often late in their rent? Your management may not really care, unfortunately, whether you're happy or not, but I bet they care greatly whether they get their money.

I do understand completely about you needing your rest. I agree 100%. Might there be another apartment in your building that you could move to?

How nice it would be to have housing for patients near a medical facility, where it was quiet, and where their drivers could easily pick them up.

I think Arizona law sides with the landlord. My previous apartment, the one where I suffered the burglary, was awful in every way. The landlords were a couple in their 80s and they were like having meddling in-laws.

The apartment complex where I now live is pretty good, not great. It's the old saying that you get what you pay for. It's what I can afford. Yes, they do get testy with tenants if they don't pay by the 4th of the month.

The main problem I see, and this is what I've deduced from observation and talks with the main front office person, the tenant and whoever this girlfriend he has and whether she is legally on their lease agreement, he is not really the lease holder. He is an undergraduate at the University of Arizona. He has a part time job as a server in a restaurant, as does his girlfriend. There is no way that he could afford rent, etc. on that salary and have a brand new Nissan and all brand new furnishings. My belief is that he has been a spoiled brat all of his life, and somehow his family thought it better he not live at home due to his behavior. He is so pampered that his girlfriend cleans the apartment. He doesn't even wash his own clothes. There is a laundry just across from my building that is offered by the building management for those apartments that do not have their own washer/dryer, as mine does not. His does not either as it is a Xerox copy of my apartment. His family must live close by and it appears that he takes his clothes home to have them washed. There's much more that I've deduced and I could go on. In sum, he's a spoiled kid and needs to be knocked down a notch or three. One of my biggest pet peeves is people who are arrogant and have no right to assume that status. To put this in the street vernacular, this kid doesn't think his [bleep] stinks.

Signing was VERY well attended - extra chairs needed, and I don't really know what we'd have done with the other eight people who were "absolutely" coming for sure, positively.  People never cease to amaze me.  I read two chapters (carefully chosen and in chapter one I stopped before the actual plot point kicked in in the last two pages.  The other chapter I read that I knew folks would enjoy was the drive Adriana has with her mother with her mother waxing nostalgic for the lost Sunset Strip and Westwood.  I answered questions, yakked for a bit, signed and a LOT of cake was consumed.

Thanks DR JANE and DR JEANNE.....I should have it by Wednesday, so we shall see.

I have been working on some sound effects for the September show so the director doesn't have to worry about them.  He doesn't have to use them, but if he needs them or runs out of time....he'll have them.

Oh my DR DAN M.....Michael Lindsey-Hogg is even more so!
