Reading everyone's posts and their comments are not surprising. Most if not all awards shows are not produced properly, seemingly by people who don't have any feelings about what the show represents. And, because of that, the wrong hosts and write-by-the-numbers writers are attached. Instead of focusing on the meat and potatoes, such producers are more concerned with adding mind-numbing musical numbers, almost as time stretchers and time fillers. Producing by following a pattern and selling said pattern with canned laughter and canned applause. I'd bet a good percentage of those in the audience won their tickets on a radio station and haven't a clue what the Tonys are.

The choreography for American in Paris is all original.  I hate projections - I'm over them.  It looked okay in its number, but I've watched the first fifteen minutes of the DVD I have and it hasn't engaged me yet and I've yet to see any example of it actually having a book.

I'm not a fan of the composer of Fun Home and this number didn't change that - in fact it sounded like any number of other things, including her own Violet.  But I thought the young girl was terrific and I'm always happy to see Beth Malone, whom I adore.  One other point of interest - two of the supporting actors in a musical appeared in Outside the Box in the same episode - Brad Oscar and Brandon Uranowitz.

Triple digit heat on the way according to the weatherman on CBS.  Good, that might mean rain.

American In Paris...Kelly and Caron did it better and they had heat between them.  These two were technical cardboard.

Ruthie Ann Miles for best featured actress in a musical, "The King and I," and she's the one to read her speech from her phone.

I saw exactly nothing of the awards.  Vixdad was engrossed in Columbo and I did not like to interrupt him

Did NOT like the Twentieth Century staging or performance - and more PROJECTIONS - what has happened to set design.

I said after watching the first fifteen minutes of American in Paris that the Gene Kelly guy is like a strutting peacock, full of himself.  Kelly's brashness and freshness came from an actual personality.

So why wasn't "An American in Paris" nominated for best choreography?  Is it all recreated from the movie?

Oh...not only WAS "An American in Paris" nominated for best choreography, it won!  The ballot that I printed from Playbill.com didn't print Christopher Wheeldon's name or the show's title.  Strange.

Finding Neverland - one of the worst pieces of tripe I've ever seen and I've seen a LOT.  Just start with that sickening microphone running down his face - um, this is a PERIOD piece - want to take me right out of your show, then be stupid like that.  But the music, the lyrics - the WORST.  Now I truly believe those million dollar grosses are not real.

And yes, more projections - probably makes Harvey feel like he's bringing the movies to the stage.

If they are real, it is because of the sheep who go to a show just because a "TV star" is on stage, and I have no use for that.

Over-produced, over-orchestrated, overwrought!  Trying to cover up for the fact that there is no there there....or in this case, no song.

For some reason, my laptop says it can't connect to the Internet.  And I am too stupid to know how to fix it.

I am on Season Two of the Father Brown mysteries.  is anyone else watching them?  They remind me a bit of "Midsomer Murders" with at times more humor.  The one i'm watching now has a bit of Rear Window meets Mapp and Lucia, a killing at a summer fete with fighting over the best cakes and pies.

We didn't get the show to watch it but plan to when Netflix has it.

Let Us Forget About The Tony Awards For A MInute And Think About The Academy Awards Next Year. I Have Just Been Blown Away By A Movie That Should Win Several Awards Next Year LOVE AND MERCY. This Is The Story Of Brian Wilson(THE BEACH BOYS) and It Is The First Time(IMHO) That The Best Actor Award Will Be Shared for Playing The Same Role By Paul Dano(Young Brian) and John Cusack(Older Brian) The Two Of Them are Equally Magnificent. The Movie Is Not Your Usual Bio-Pic. It Is Something Very Special.Go See It !....And Now ...Back To The Tonys.

Thank you for suggesting the movie.  We will try and go before the end of the month.
