I saw the latest re-vamping of A Quiet Place at New York City Opera a few years ago. They did a tremendous job with it, and made the best possible case for it, but it is still a problematic piece. And while I love most of Bernstein's scores, including his concert music, I just can't cuddle up to this astringent score. I love Trouble in Tahiti on its own.

I have the recording and the score of A Quiet Place, but haven't listened to it more than twice.

Two SCOTUS cases announced so far. Nothing I was waiting for, yet.

No decisions from SCOTUS today regarding either marriage equality or the Affordable Care Act.

TOD:
I guess I prefer hamburgers over hot dogs, but I do like both. The buns have to be warm and fresh. Cold buns with a hot burger ruin the whole thing and it seems to happen all too often. Ribs are okay. I think I had barbequed cat fish once and that was very nice. I do love corn on the cob, and you all already know how I feel about beans. Cole slaw is very nice too, but I don't like horseradish in it.

TOD: We'uns in Texas use the word barbecue to refer strictly to smoked meat. The rest is grilling or a cook-out.

That said, I like an old-fashioned style T-bone on the grill, thin and slathered with some Heinz 57 sauce. Brings back some great childhood memories. Brats on the grill are also great. Gotta have some salads with that, including potato and a green salad, coleslaw or macaroni, you name it. Love watermelon in that mix, too.

As for barbecue, give me beef ribs, pork ribs, brisket, sausage, just about anything but chicken. Very few people know how to smoke chicken properly, so they oversmoke it and the meat tastes like licking an ashtray.

Thank you for all the travel vibes!  I've been to the FedEx office here in the hotel to mail my AAUW stuff back to Ohio and I'm about to head over to the airport.

Bye for now!
