In what I can only call a monumental brain fart
Most people don't know that the song in Merrily We Roll Along entitled "That Frank" was originally titled "That Fred."
I just received in the mail the world premiere studio cast recording to the "new" Vernon Duke musical, "Misia," starring Marin Mazzie. Reading the liner notes, it has a very interesting history. Vernon Duke wrote the score to a French libretto, entitled Milord l'Arsouille ("Lord Rogue") about Lord Henry Seymour. It was never translated successfully into English, so Vernon Duke's widow (who had the score) allowed Barry Singer to write a whole new show about Misia Sert, "the celebrated muse of fin de siècle Paris." What's interesting is that Vernon Duke is an actual character in this new show, although the character doesn't sing. I just got it so hopefully I'll get to listen to it today.

DR John G., the misuse of the word "barbecue" is unfortunately rampant. I can only say, somewhat proudly, that I'm not one of the offenders. A modest achievement -- I am probably an offender in many other ways, but not in that one.
