I've dealt with the copyist issue, reported in to my new Mac man, and I have to make the bed and take this modem to 96th Street.

Things are back to abnormal around here....so that is a GOOD thing.

Tonight is performance six of THE BAD SEED.  Last night was a good show, with a couple of line bobbles.....but a very good and sizable audience.

Tonight a lot of friends who are in INTO THE WOODS are attending, so hopefully they will enjoy it....if one can "enjoy" a play about a grade school age murderess.

OK, this is a really stupid question, but here goes:

If your cellphone is turned off, of course callers can still leave a voice message. But would calls show up on your call log, or as "missed calls," if the phone was off?

DR TCB's post last night just made me wonder.

Mine don't.

I don't know if this is what he used, but the nurse yesterday said that I was given an internal numbing medication, so I'm guessing it is.  I'm still taking pain pills though

Jack, in Into the Woods, in considered a school-age murderer. And Red is the cause of other death. So, it works. Right?

This morning I woke to my gutter guy cleaning the gutters.   Now Pam just showed up. She's going to mow the yard.  I feel very blessed to have the help.

I'm going to try to take a nap now.  Pam said I don't look as good as I did yesterday and I don't feel as good.  I think a little more sleep may help

My missed calls show up. I have to look at "recent calls" to see them.   But they are there

I'm working a half-day to day.

Don't know what I'll do when I leave.  I "was" going to make a CostCo run, but I'm over it right now.

I read this as starting off "Jack in the Woods is considered a school-agbe murderer."

Jack?  Is there any astrological reason that might have occurred to me?

People need to leave you a voice mail if they want you to know they called when your cell phone was off.

TOD:

Not a thing in my CD player at the moment.  That, in itself, is most strange and unusual since I have piles and piles of unlistened-to CDs gathering dust.

I will say that after reading BK's comments about "Inside Daisy Clover", I can not only agree with what he wrote but also acknowledge that I, too, saw the film in its first release...several times, taking different folks to see it to observe their reactions.   I bought the soundtrack the moment I saw it in the record store.   I have both the mono and stereo LPs.  And then years ago, Film Score Monthly issued every single note of music ever recorded for the film (to my knowledge) in a splendid, marvelous, too-wonderful-for-words 2-CD* soundtrack that was the end-all, be-all for Daisy Clover fans.  It was my go-to gift for many friends for the next year.

Andre Previn was a truly splendid composer for film.  He has consigned ALL of his Hollywood work to the trash heap, although my opinion of his own classical work is that it is imminentely forgettable while his Hollywood work is among the best EVER done by anyone...both original work and adaptation.

Based on the admittedly little I've heard of Previn's classical orchestral recordings, he was a boring as hell symphonic conductor.  Not that that fault wasn't shared by other brilliant film composer/conductors.  Bernard Herrmann's classical forays were kind of 'eh', as were some of his own film re-recordings.

But at least he made those re-recordings.  This being about Previn...I once skimmed through a slim book of his memoirs, and the way he dismissed his Hollywood career was just disheartening.

Friday morning afternoon greetings!  I was very tired last night, but our household had some disruption with Rob being called into work at midnight and Richard's cough keeping him awake throughout the night.  I slept until 9am and am taking it very slowly today.

The book discussion party was a success and the patriotic refreshments were a big hit.  Here's the entire table:

42 years ago today I caught an early flight from Detroit to Dayton and spent the day being interviewed in Middletown and Oxford for the position of public services librarian at Miami University-Middletown.  One week later I accepted the job and the rest, as they say, is history.

I realized yesterday that 35 years ago on July 15, I moved into my apartment on 82nd Street.

I've sent the difficult email about Gentlemen, Be Seated!  I hope my friend doesn't feel dumped.  we're in a scheduling crunch.

...

So, you moved in there shortly after we saw Christine Andreas in OKLAHOMA when I was in NYC for ALA...
