TOD:

I will be watching the last four episodes of THE WALKING DEAD, Season 5.

(I know it's about zombies, but they are secondary to the people stories and the show is very well done.)

And, according to Amazon, HOUSE OF CARDS, Season 3 and MAD MEN, The Final Season, Part I, should arrive tomorrow.

Good morning, all!  After a day in which my pulled muscle seemed to be healing, last night and this morning have been excruciating.  At the present moment, which will please my critics, I wish I were dead and out of this pain.

I am seeing a friend from LA for dinner and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, and I really hope I survive the evening.

Friday morning greetings!  After a couple of busy days and 2 consecutive evenings of socializing, I'm enjoying a quiet day at home today.  Last night was my book group's annual potluck dinner and movie night, for which I made these:

The fruit cones were a big hit.  My friend Betty brought peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream to go with it and some people put a scoop of ice cream on top of the cones.  I hadn't thought of that!

The book we read/movie we watched was Still Alice.  It's a frightening story about early-onset Alzheimer's and Julianne Moore's Oscar-winning performance was excellent.  We weren't so thrilled with Alec Baldwin as her husband.

I have avoided reading Still Alice though I always expected someone to pick it for my book group.  It was mentioned a number of times.

LOL, DR ChasSmith!  We still have a few cones and we have some vanilla frozen yogurt - will that do?

TOD:

DVD: The end of the Court Jester

Car CD: The end of Go Set a Watchman, which has become really preachy on the last disc.

There's a lethargy in the office today. Feels like moving through molasses. Maybe it's a Benedryl hangover. But other people are feeling it, too.

I guess I've been living in a cave, because I have never seen Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.

Add it to my long list of never-seen classics.

:o

You really should see this now!

Topic of the Day:

In my CD player at work:  the original Broadway cast recording of The Visit, with a score by John Kander and Fred Ebb, AND the original Vienna cast recording to Der Besuch Der Alten Dame with music by Michael Reed and Moritz Schneider, and lyrics by Wolfgang Hofer.  This show is also a musical version of "The Visit."  The CD is the entire show, which is pretty cool.  It's very different than the Kander and Ebb score.  The music is very modern and, of course, not in English, so I have no idea what the heck they're singing about.  I've listened to it once and so far I like it.
