Well, I need to leave work and go shopping.  I need a new keyboard for my computer.  I have a ergonomic split keyboard, but I don't know if I need another one.  We'll see what I can find.

Until later.

Well, I didn't get another ergonomic split keyboard.  But I didn't get a cheap one, either.  I went to Office Depot and got a Logitech Illuminated Keyboard.  It was on sale.  Amazon actually has it for the same price, but I didn't have to wait.

It's really cool.  Even though I have a flat (not split) keyboard at work, it'll take a little getting used to having one here at home again.  But I love the illumination.  The lights above my computer desk are in front of me, as I look at my monitor, so my keyboard is in a bit of a shadow.  Having the illumination makes it possible to see the keys and know if I'm aiming and hitting a "(" or a ")" without any more worries. :)

Have started watching The Clouds of Sils Maria. I'm as shocked as anyone that Kristin Stewart is as good as she is here. Who'd a thunk it?

Not a great movie (the script is ragged), but an interesting one.

TOD

I do love those buttery almond cookies that are covered in powered sugar.  I have heard themcalledby different names .  My nana used to make them in a crescent shape and call themchristmascrescents

Those sound a lot like the German almond crescent cookies that my mom makes!  They are delish!

I do have a bit of advice for folks who live far away from their aging parents.  If there's a sibling close by who's dealing with them day-to-day, please find a way to be supportive to her or him.  Once in a while my sister sends me some restaurant gift cards or some other surprise to show her appreciation.  Most recently she sent a Secret New York coloring book.  It means a lot.

I completely understand. The closest that Mom and Dad have in my sister Annaliese, who lives about 75 miles away. She's able to visit regularly but not weekly.

I'm very fortunate that both my sister and I live within 10 miles of our parents.  They're getting up there, but they're not ready for outside care, yet.

The new keyboard looks great, George. Is it easy to type on?

Very.  I like it very much!  The only (minor) thing that I don't like about it is that the Insert key has been moved up to where the Print Screen key should be, and the Print Key is where the Scroll Lock key (which I never use) was.  It looks like there is no Scroll Lock key.

That'll take a little getting used to, but at least the Del, Home and Page Up keys are three across and two down.  My sister has a keyboard where they are two across and three down.  I don't like the keys in those positions. :P

Here's a slightly blurry picture of my illuminated keyboard:

It looks better than that, but my cell phone does not have the best camera.

I have a recipe for Almond Crescents, but usually I make Pecan Snowballs which are similar.

I love pecan snowballs!  Can I come visit on cookie making day?  I probably wouldn't be much help making the cookies, but I would keep the conversation lively.  Oh, and then, if Vixmom is not able to visit, I could take her cookies to her.

Dumb question, I suppose, but why do you want keys that light up?  It has taken me years to break myself of the habit of looking at the keys while I type.  If my keys light up, I would feel obligated to look at the keys again.

Tonight was our last rehearsal at the elementary school.  Tomorrow night we move into the theater.

We should have moved into the theater tonight, but they had auditions scheduled for LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO.

It's mainly for when I have things in front of my keyboard and I have to push it back under the desktop making it very difficult to feel which specific key I'm pressing and even more difficult to see which specific key I'm pressing.

This way, when it's difficult to touch-type, I can see what the heck I'm doing, especially in the low light of where my computer desk is.

In my picture, the back row of keys are under the desktop.  The keyboard tray can slide completely under the desktop, storing it out of the way when necessary.  But sometimes I need to have the tray out but push the keyboard itself back so that I have room to put things in front of it, and it's dark back there.

It sounds like you are more likely to need the lighted keyboard at work, rather than at home.

(I originally typed the ignited keyboard.)

I actually thought about that for a bit, but I have much more light at work.  I have a window right behind me.  At home at night, the only light comes from in front of me and the keyboard is hidden by the desktop and everything that's on top of it.  Like the rest of the room, it's very cluttered. ::)
