tod

I would have to go back and look them up as i would need to know the titles.

I would have to say most anything that was done by Elizabeth Montgomery after Bewitched.

Many of these movies were also pilots but probably we didn't know it at the time and would be interesting to why after the fact they never were made as a series,

An epic dream early this morning.

Epic.

Could I write it down?  I probably could, but documenting every possible reference would put us on page fifty-three.  Or I could just do it for myself.  But I'm not going to make the effort.  This is one I'll be remembering for a while.

Can't do it right here, but I will watch that Jack Benny later.  Looking forward to it.

Don't recall that S.F. movie but would love to see it.  That's the very year I first went to the west coast and saw both L.A. and S.F.  Most exciting and rewarding trip ever.

Those TV movies are such comfort food now.  I have just a few here, probably ones that Warner Archive has issued.  Wish I could remember all the ones I saw.  Would love to see a bunch now, for sure.

Good morning, all! I slept late, then I lost my glasses and spent 30 minutes looking for them around my bed. Because I'm nearly blind, I go into panic mode. The last pair of glasses is six years old (yes, I knowI'm overdue for new ones) so I put them on. Just as I was debating calling Joshie and insisting he come over to help me look, I found them under my bed, a full mattress length from where I usually keep them in my night stand. Poltergeist? or my encroaching senility?

Jack Benny......I could watch his show all day....and sometimes I almost do!

It was one of those TV things that really seemed part radio show - Burns & Allen was another one....strange.

The set up with the three beautiful women seemed to peak with their second appearance....but it was a set up for a third that brought the house down!  LOL....and Toni & Jack were hilarious!

Some of the late night hosts try to go for this TYPE of set up.....especially Jimmy Kimmel....and sometimes they are successful.....Jimmy Fallon tries it as well.

Yesterday was a good day.  The morning band rehearsal read down all of the new things Joshie and I worked on for the past week and a half, then Rob ra through the gebinnings and endings of most of the numbers, giving the band cuts and changes.

Before the session, I had a lovely visit with my beautiful friend Leigh Beery, who's Mrs Jonathan Tunick. We've been friends since 1981 or so, when Steve Ross introduced us. I had been in love with her since her glorious "You Have Made Me Love" from the Christopher Plummer musical Cyrano.

At lunch, she, Jonathan, and I talked about our friendship. She said I knew her longer than she had known Jonathan, and I met Jonathan through Leigh and John McGlinn, when Leigh was playing Sue in McGlinn's 1986 concert of the 1925 scores for No, No, Nanette at the Carnegie Recital Hall. Then we talked about Brahms, Dvorak, Hershy Kay, and told musician jokes.

TOD:

THE DEADLY TOWER

DUEL

The extended version of DUEL on DVD is a disappointment.  It was much tighter and better when it was originally shown on TV.

I like the cast of Cabin in the Sky a lot.  I had never met La Chanze before, and she's really wonderful.  "Taking a Chance on Love" is quite delightful. I've known Chuck Cooper since Finian's Rainbow and I really adore him.  I met Norm Lewis at a Library of Congress concert of Vincent Youmans music and we later did the "Jule Styne in Hollywood" recording for PS Classics.  I didn't know the actors playing Georgia Brown and Little Joe, but they really impressed me.

We watched BRIDGE OF SPIES last night.

Enjoyed it, but I felt it was a bit disjointed.  It was really 2 movies: one dealt with the trial and the other with the prisoner exchange.

I wonder if it might have worked better as a 2-part mini-series.

I went through that with my glasses a few weeks ago.  Fortunately I have a second pair, so I went and got them.  Looked all the HELL around and under and behind the bed.  Nada.  It's a platform bed and I began to think I'd have to start disassembling it and I didn't even want to think about that.  I gave it a rest for a couple of hours.

Tried again later.  Still nothing.  This time I moved a couple of things on the little shelf that I always tuck the glasses into at night.  And there were the glasses.  They were behind the TV remote instead of in front of it.  I'd glanced at the shelf first thing, but...

Poltergeist, incompetence, senility.  Oy!  Could I try door number four?

Today and tomorrow are publisher days.  I need to make the corrections to my "Appalachian Carols for My Father" and mail them back to the publisher on Monday. The fee will cover most of the Ohio property taxes, which will be due on Feb. 25 or so.

Once the Ohio taxes are paid, the next check is going to an optometrist.
