So, my next memory is a climb up a dark staircase - my grandmother's house was full of ghosts and I was frightened of certain areas - to my room, where I closed the blinds and undressed. Then I heard a noisy fight coming from downstairs, so I put on a shirt and went down the stairs. Kathy and my parents were arguing, something about her boyfriend Kevin. My parents wanted to call the police, but Kathy was rather agitated and ran out of the house and across this huge yard and vanished. Once again, I pushed them to call the police.
Instead, my father went looking for her and M and I followed him outside. He wandered around calling her name, and she returned with a young man, Kevin, and both were dressed in winter clothes. I think there had been snow, I was some distance away, but I could hear the conversation with my dad get more angry and ugly when Kevin pulled out a gun and shot my dad. I turned to M and yelled call the police, then started running to the house. Inside I yelled at my mother to call 911, that dad had been shot and we needed help. I had to repeat this several times because she just stood there. After she went to the phone, from the window I saw Kevin shoot M. and I woke up.
