TRUTH IN ADVERTISING

Well, you've read the notes, the notes told the truth and had some advertising, and now it is time for you to post until the truthful cows come home.

The Topic of the Day reminds me of this movie description:  "Transported to a surreal landscape, a young girl kills the first person she meets and then teams up with three strangers to kill again."  It is, of course, "The Wizard of Oz."  When I just did a search to find that quote, one of the links was this website that describes other movies in similar ways:

John Scalzi – An Experiment in Accurate But Misleading Movie Descriptions

Almost 4,000 comment posts to the Times (which the article pointed out) sounds like a lot, but spread over eight or nine years, it's averaging just a little over one a day.  And I think while I was basically "at home" for a period when the economy was really bad, there could be quite a few in a single day.

The feline contingent was very kind in letting me sleep in a little bit this morning, which felt damned good even the last hour or so (well, it sure seemed like a damned hour) was dominated by a silly dream about The Fantasticks in which I had to discover -- or reassemble, actually, since the last person hadn't documented it -- the correct color scheme for each song, and pack the set miniatures up into a large mailing envelope or small box for easy carrying...

Oy!

Today, some work on the keyboard, and I really need to take advantage of the clear dry weather which is supposed to take a downturn tomorrow and cut the grass at some point.

Tonight, I attend the high school's annual spring jazz thingy called "Footpath Cafe" or some such.  It's always enjoyable, and, for my taste, showcases the best playing and singing heard all year.

I have an event with some Irish friends to attend tonight. Niall O'Sullivan played trumpet with the Orchestra of Ireland on my three Dublin recordings, and one of the other players is Vinny Lynch, our rehearsal pianist.

In response to DR VIXMOM's repeated requests....well she asked once.....here is Beth playing what purports to be a piano while Mr. Laurence thinks about the many rips in the time/space continuum are present in this production.

I shall have to think about the TOD....I usually don't pay much attention to descriptions.....for just the reasons that MR BK writes about in the notes.

Thank you DR FJL.  The costumes are lovely, the settings not so much.....but tickets are selling briskly and the preview audience was very pleased with what they saw....

Time will tell.....

When I slept I had wonderfully weird dreams based on the noir novel I finished just before bed: Black Wings Has My Angel.

Here's something that bothered me this morning: on CBS THIS MORNING, they interviewed a country singer, Kip Moore, who's working with skateboarding kids.  The scroll under the interview said, "Roll Model," not "Role Model."

Is he the Pillsbury Doughboy stand-in?

We are raising a nation of morons.
