A FESTIVELY FESTIVE JULY
« on: July 01, 2016, 12:33:16 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were festively festive and written in July, and now it is time for you to post until the festively festive cows come home.

I really loved all three of Rorem's symphonies, and I'm now listening to the piano concerto which is great - rather like Robert Ward's, actually, and if you got that one based on my recommendation and liked it, you will absolutely like this.  And all this wonderful music is bargain priced because a lot of it is on Naxos, a budget label.

To continue about "Royal Pains," Christine Ebersole plays a recurring character who in this episode is marrying Hank's father, played by Henry Winkler.  Hank, played by Mark Feuerstein, is the lead character.  Cloris Leachman is the main guest star on this episode.  It turns out that Cloris' character might have a condition that causes hallucinations, which manifest as song-and-dance musical numbers.  Bob Gunton plays Hank's brother's father-in-law.  Several other theater people had cameos during the episode.

I have to meet a friend for lunch tomorrow in Olympia.  Why did I rather stupidly agree to drive on the freeway at the start of the July 4 traffic jam?

George I somehow missed your initial post about the hidden treasures... I dated Gorman  Bechard  in  1977 or 1978...

:(So Chas I dont suggest driving a truck on a road trip. We usually make Lumberton in 12 hours or less and that is with a nice leisurely Lunch at Cracker Barrel thrown in

Admittedly we are a bit  off 95 this morning but I figured if we were not getting past Georgia why not see a little of Savannah...

Good FRIDAY morning, that is.

The Friday morning of the three-day holiday weekend.  And may it be a fine, relaxing, enjoyable holiday weekend for all.

Yes, vixmom, I hear ya about the truck and the resulting pace of things.

I have never been closer to Savannah than I-95, and very much want to see it.

Very interested in getting some Ned Rorem on the Big Speakers. I checked my collection and I seem to have only two Rorem LPs, unless there are any pieces included on other albums.  But I will listen to these two, one of which is songs which I look forward to.

I'm a little ashamed at my lack of Ned Rorem knowledge, having come up more through the classical world.
