Wow!  I did this on my tablet.  I didn't realize that it would be that big!  (That's not a euphemism. ;) )

Why am I up at three in the morning.  Well, I was going to bed at one-thirty when the new master of our next release posted to Dropbox - so I had to listen.  I was very happy with the one that was difficult (there are two scores on one CD) except I felt the level was too low.  I e-mailed that, and within minutes I had a new version of those tracks and it was better, although I'll listen with fresh ears today at some point - but the louder level helps give it some punch.  This score was taken from acetates and the guy did a really good job as he has on other acetate transfers - it's never going to sound like tape, but this music is so great it's just wonderful to have it cleaned up and sounding as good as it's ever going to sound.

I was in bed by 830 last night.  I think I could have used another hour of sleep, but at least I will be awake today.

Rehearsal at 11:00 this morning.  Things went rather well yesterday, and the cast happily retained most of their vocal parts since there had been two days without our music director.

I need to get over losing my violin battle yesterday, but it's difficult at the moment since comments like "you may need to simplify your music for future productions" really irk.  I had wanted the additional violin to cover the difficult passages and play the violin lines in the opening that the director has cut because the cast cannot play necessarily instruments and deal with all of the exposition.  And  this is why Jule Styne threatened to pull the GYPSY score if Jerome Robbins cut "Little Lamb."

Worst musicals ever:
CARRIE (still at the top)
RAGGEDY ANN
JELLy'S LAST JAM (what the fat hell was this turkey about?)
DANCE A LITTLE CLOSER (Alan J. Lerner, phone home!)
THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS (beautiful score, God-awful libretto)
MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG (I believe nothing will ever fix tis show, no matter how much the Sondheim Cult praises it)
OPAL (the ad said "a little girl and her pig"; well, they slaughter the pig!)
WICKED (brilliant novel, misguided musical)
KA-BOOM (á la A CHORUS LNE, God auditions that last remaining humans in the world to stay alive and breed)

I think the worst play was BURN THIS  (if you can't buy the premise, there's no play after that)

I've seen a lot in 40 years of New York Theatre, and I know there are more I've now repressed or forgotten.

Today's fresh hell:  at 11:00am yesterday, someone whose email address is jimhench9@gmail.com used my`debit card to charge a $500 Nieman Marcus gift card.  I just spoke to the bank and the debit card is DOA.  They gave me the Nieman Marcus number, and a wonderful lady gave me the email address of the purchaser, the order information, and canceled  the order.

What's interesting about all of this is that the card name was "Larry Moore," which is not the name on the card.  The only account I have that uses this name is with Amazon.com. Could the gmail possessor be an Amazon employee?

TOD:

I didn't like WICKED.  The songs were "okay," but the book was terrible.

I spent most of yesterday doing a heart stress test.

Actually, I had to do it twice.  I get winded easily, which was the reason for the test.  I couldn't stay on the treadmill long enough to get a reading, so then they decided to give me a chemical stress test, which was not fun.

So, let's see.  Chance of rain or thunderstorms this evening.  Chance of rain or storms tomorrow evening, which they want to make a rain date.  My goodness, I just can't wait to find out what happens.   :)
