Last week, I sent several emails and PMs on Facebook to friends from the past 40 years with inquiries about dates, performances, and, in one case, a very lovely email that I can no longer locate.

DR Ginny responded, and the others all said they would get back to me.  No one said no, no one said they were too busy, no one turned me down, so why the fat hell have I heard nothing from any of them in the past week?  It wasn't as though I'd asked for a pint of blood or a limb.

Clearly, the others didn't save their kitchen calendars from the years in question...

I had to let go of mine when we moved.

DR Elmore is just lucky I hadn't cut them up for collage and other papercrafting projects!

I am rather happy today.  I am meeting my beloved  Charlotte to see Florence Foster Jenkins at 3:30

Tell us what you think!  I'm seeing it tonight. :)

The menu was short and sweet - don't remember much about it other than I had a very small Cobb salad - as I later found out, we could have ordered off-menu things since several at the table did.

The big laugh in the patter I wrote was Hayley saying, "I get asked to sing that song all the time, but I never have anyone to sing it with."  To which Richard replies, "What about the girl you sang it with in the movie?"  And Hayley beautifully timed a look to him - big laugh.

Today has been one long headache. The mold is high from the rains. Allergies are up and work is a challenge.

"Florence Foster Jenkins" is quite an amazing film.  It's funny, Meryl Streep's singing or miming of someone else's performance, is spot on, and the cast is truly wonderful. Hugh Grant is really astonishing, and Simon Helberg of "The Big Bang" really boggled my mind as this quietly gay, mousey southern gentleman who goes fighting all the way to Carnegie Hall.  The three actors get all the laughs and never push the sadness behind the comedy.  It's quite often heartbreaking, and the ending is a killer.

Nina Arianda, whom I'd never seen before in anything. plays the proverbial dumb blonde with the hig heart, and there are wonderful cameos by a whole crew of amazing actors.  I suspect they are mainly British, ;ole John Sessions and Maggie Steed, but the impersonations of Carl Edwards of the Met and Arturo Toscanini are quite wonderful.  The design is really fine and the choreography of Hugh Grant's dance with Nina Arianda really jives.

I have an appointment for a haircut after work.

It's about one week past the ideal date for a haircut, but I don't look too slovenly.
